You don’t have to stick your hands in the bowl. You can use your fork and take the shrimp out that way and then peal the tails off and put it back into your bowl. I do it all the time. Not hard
I could peel the whole shrimp too but it shouldn't be necessary.
It pisses me off every time

But why though?
Why in the frick is leaving the tails on the shrimp something that restaurants do? What purpose does it serve?

Makes it look authentic

Outside of a jumbo fried shrimp platter and bar be cue shrimp I've never seen shrimp served with the tails on.
When I make bar be cue shrimp I peel the tails, cut off from just behind the eyes and leave the head on. Much easier to eat that way and you get the fats from the head into the gravy.

I had a seafood salad at The Francis in St. Francisville the other night. Nice place. Good food.
BUT...
5 nice sautéed shrimp in that salad I had to squeeze the damn end tailpieces off then put the shrimp back in the salad.
Dear God!! Why???????
ETA: If they had been fried shrimp, I’d have happily eaten the shrimp, tailpiece and all.

I came to troll you, but agree.

Yep.
It’s a head scratcher.

I've never seen that in a salad.

I ordered shrimp fajitas a few weeks ago from Superior. The shrimp were still in the whole shell. Wtf

This pisses me off to no end with a bowl of seafood gumbo. The shrimp tail and sometimes the half crab that is left in it.

Lunch at Mr Bs this week. Shrimp with angel hair pasta (garlic butter sauce). Tail on.
I find it a pretty common thing that I hate.

I see where you're coming from, but I personally love eating the tails. I understand I'm in the minority though

This pisses me off to no end! I ordered Shrimp fried rice because I like shrimp IN my rice. If you leave the damn tail on I've got to pick them out of my food and peal them, ridiculous

Well, it's not that difficult to just make the damned rice yourself but he paid someone else to do it.
This guy gets it. Especially with pasta or rice dishes when the shrimp is all mixed in and covered in sauce, now I’m sitting through my food pulling shrimp out, shouldn’t be a thing
