There’s a lot more fried food than just chicken and seafood though

I reduced the amount of MIL’s Cooking and that worked wonders for me!

You're still like 20lbs or 10% bw overweight, so yes by a decent amount.

tOT: fat shaming is beneficial for society and we need much more of it since it is effective.

Mingo is relentless and ruthless in his fat shaming and gets ratioed for it.

Mingo’s points are accurate but most folks don’t want to go on a strict meat and fruit diet along with extreme workouts to stay at that perfect level.

The OTs fat shaming is typically for shite like this that is declared beautiful:

American society as a whole has definitely swung toward the “20 pounds overweight isn’t that bad” stance though

If you just want to be healthy you don't have to. I have to eat enough food for my goals, which is not fun sometimes. Just track what you eat for like 90 days then you'll have enough of an idea to know how much you need to eat.

OP here, I was eating more fried foods than I thought. Canes, CFA, fries, fried catfish, chips were in my diet.

Don’t miss it except for catfish because I don’t like grilled or baked fish. Have been able to cut out or replace everything else.

Next step is cutting out everything that did not grow in the ground or have a mother. I guess I need to get to 170 for Mingo. Mingo is right about all of this.

I’ve essentially stopped drinking sodas and now stick almost exclusively to water. I may try to do the same and cut fried foods out too, sounds like it would be a good idea OP

You need to get to 170 for yourself.

The BMI is fine when you understand what it is: a rule of thumb to measure large populations. Of course there are outliers but it's accurate for the vast majority
This is not always true

Yes it's not always true. Naturally broad shoulders or the length of the clavicle, and wide hips or the length of the pelvis range and affect weight and does not always associate directly with height.

170 lbs would be a BMI of 23.1 (anything less than or equal to 24.9 is normal).

The 20-25lbs overweight is "normal" is IMO is the worst of all the fat is OK trends because it affects far more of the population. Especially on a 6' plus man 20 pounds is easy to "hide" and they never feel fat or consider themselves fat.

Shocker, stop eating super unhealthy food is bad for you.

I love certain fried foods but it’s a cheat meal, not a common occurrence. Nothing is bad for you if you have self discipline. Instead of being a glutton, save those horrible dishes for once a week at worst or even longer. Nothing wrong with pasta, bread, donuts, pizza, burgers, tacos, etc as long as it’s in moderation and not a common part of your diet

Not if he has a lot of muscle. That’s not overweight at all.
