I heard many times that he was not reaching in. That the windows were up.
I think this is just something said over and over to put in our heads. Hands up don't shoot

Yet, there's still people over posting about Jon Benet Ramsey's death.
insightful trolljob. 0/10

BREAKING: Police chief says video of Charlotte police shooting of black man does not definitively show the man pointing a gun.
Oh boy. The fact the PD isn't releasing the video and now this could just add more fuel to the fire.

Anyone troll scopes last night. I think I'm down for tonight

I feel sorry for the businesses that are getting trashed. Uptown Charlotte is a fun place. I've stayed in that Omni that was featured in the protests last night. Very unfortunate.
Hopefully the presence of the National Guard keeps things calmer tonight.

Does the video at least show the black cop pulling the trigger? Because my facebook and twitter is full of people saying it was actually a white coop, and the media is LYING!!!!!!

Not sure we will know. They are going to show the video to the family, but not make it public.

Obama is more of a white man than a black man.

I've underlined the key word. Just because he isn't pointing it, doesn't mean he didn't have it.

Idiot.
No one around here wants innocent people murdered man. You're being ridiculous.
And what does JonBenet have to do with anything? That's simply interesting to many because it is a mystery.. so what if people like to speculate and discuss such mystery.. Has nothing to do with this whatsoever.
You seem to be the one making racial divide.. and assuming things that aren't even true..

Is having it enough to justify being shot and killed, if he wasn't pointing it and threatening an officer? That's where this is going to get ugly, especially if it was a legal weapon. (I have no idea if he had a gun, or if it was legal, just asking the question.)

Maybe. Depends on the circumstances. I will say if you are brandishing a weapon and the cops are instructing you to put it down (or your hands off/up), your best bet is to do it. Absolutely idiotic and probably fatally dangerous to do anything else.
I haven't really followed this and don't know whether he was (1) brandishing (as opposed to having it holstered or something like that (2) ignored instruction regarding his hands, the gun, etc (3) acted in a threatening manner. All of this should matter.

If you are talking to police, and your immediate reaction is to grab a gun... then you refuse to drop the gun when instructed too... then yes.
The time it takes for a gun in your hand to go from hanging at your side to point and shoot is negligible at best.

It is just unfortunate. This isn't some suburb. This is the heart of Charlotte within sight of the Hornets' arena, their major performing arts theater. Tons of restaurants and bars. Nice hotels. As a somewhat frequent visitor of Charlotte, it kind of infuriates me.
I guess the best equivalent for this board would be if rioters went through the French Quarter just wrecking shite.

I'd agree with that. I'm interested in how this went down. I've been busy and am not up to speed on this one - so many riots, so little time.
Was he in the car when shot, or outside it? Was the gun in his hand? The fact that they won't show the video publicly says to me that they think it's bad for the officer.
Regardless - even if it was a bad shoot, that doesn't justify the rioting, violence, theft, arson, assault, etc. I'm done with all that shite.

This is why the black community stays stuck in their bullshite. Because anyone who doesn't act like a thug and talk a certain way (ghetto), gets referred to as a square (actually, a bitch, if we're being honest) and as being too white.
As someone who is closely involved with the black community here in BR, nothing sickens me more than seeing a good, young kid turned in to a thug because of the people that surround him and ridicule him if he acts proper.

Brandishing a weapon and refusing to disarm after being given lawful orders can be considered a threat
