How long are the police able to detain you "fairly" and how long is too long? Serious question? I mean 9 hours for something like this is really not that big of a deal IMO. Its not like he slept there over night.

Furthermore, I'm calling BS on a lot of this and that he was clearly not cooperating with police. If all he did was give his alibi and tell them that he had multiple family members in local law enforcement they would cleared him fairly quickly.

I'm pretty sure he would have been much worse for him if he didn't cooperate.

Most departments have policies against allowing medicine to be taken without an examination from medical staff first.

I wasn't allowed to have my seizure meds that were delivered to EBRPP, even after my doc made multiple calls. I ended up having 3 seizures in a week and a half because they wouldn't give me my meds. Whatever policy it is that doesn't allow them to let people take their own medication is bullshite

SCOTUS says that anything beyond 45 minutes ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD is too long. But that was for a "bringing the drug dog to sniff your car" case. Given that parameter, six or eight hours in the middle of something like yesterday seems damn reasonable.

BUT that is assuming they have legitimate reason to suspect you (which it sounds like they did) and they are making an effort to confirm or deny that info. Most of these cases come down to what a "reasonable man" would find acceptable.

Did they just toss them in a cell and forget about them? Were they attempting to interview them and confirm or deny their involvement? Were they treated fairly or were they beaten and deprived of food/water/a toilet/etc. Things like that.

More like being detained for so long, being held in a cell, and being interrogated.

So he got his insulin before a near medical emergency?

Whoa. That's messed up. And he then posts about having relatives in the force.... They should have kept his fat arse in jail just for being a prick. AGAIN!!!! IF Sterling just complies with police, NONE of this happens............

Doesn't seem like the kind of post made by someone with multiple relatives on the force. Hmm.
