Most men try and have butt sex with their women. Its not the butt sex that weakens a military. Its having glitter wearing fairies is what does it

Sounds kind of like the "Blue Ghost."
quote:
The Lexington is a true living legend named for the American Revolution’s Battle of Lexington. Commissioned in 1943, the Lexington CV 16 served longer and set more records than any other carrier in US Naval history. The Lexington was originally to be named the Cabot, after the sinking of the USS Lexington CV-2 in the Coral Sea in the early days of World War II. A campaign was mounted to have her named after the Revolutionary War battle, so the fleet would bear a continual reminder of our earliest search for freedom as a nation. She became the USS Lexington CV-16, commissioned on February 17, 1943.The Lexington joined the Fifth Fleet at Pearl Harbor, and took part in nearly every major operation in the Pacific Theater. She would ultimately spend 21 months in combat. It was in the Pacific where the Lexington rose to fame. The Japanese were well noted for their propagandist radio station, the Tokyo Rose. The Tokyo Rose declared the Lexington sunk no less than four times. Yet at each new battle, the Lexington returned to the fight. This led the Tokyo Rose to nickname her “The Blue Ghost”.
The Lexington participated in the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. She received the Presidential Unit Citation and 11 Battle Stars during her service in World War II. The Lexington was also the first battleship into Tokyo Harbor for the Japanese peace treaty signing.
Briefly de-commissioned after World War II, the Lexington was reactivated and served in the Seventh Fleet out of California. She served during tensions with Formosa, Laos, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1962, she was berthed in Pensacola, Florida. There, the Lexington would begin training operations as the Navy Training Carrier. As the Naval Training Carrier she assisted in training naval and marine aviators in combat roles during the Vietnam War. She also became the first aircraft carrier to have women stationed on board. The Lexington became the last serving World War II Essex Class Aircraft Carrier. In August 1990, she was replaced as the Navy’s training carrier and de-commissioned for the last time.

That's a bit of an understatement when you consider their proclivity for killing ugly babies
Spartans didn't kill babies.
Spartan kids with deformities just weren't allowed in the military which meant they couldn't become spartan citizens.

I thought I had read where the whole "Spartan Army had gay sex" trope was a myth.

Depends on who you ask. Pederasty was part of Greek culture, but the translation is open to interpretation. The custom of boys being assigned to men for training and companionship happened all over Greece. There are records in Athens that suggest this included sexual relations. There are records from Sparta that suggest this was frowned upon. But there's no proof either way, and it's likely it happened. Different times, different culture.
I love the people who's only exposure to Ancient Greece is 300. I loved the movie, but there's little historical fact in either one aside from the fact that the battles actually did happen.

300 is a shite movie. The historically accurate version of the battle would've been FAR more interesting to film with a big budget. Too bad the movie studios chose Zach Snyder to film a Frank Miller graphic novel instead.

Also, everybody remembers king Leonidas who was defeated but forgets Themistocles, who kicked the Persians arses.

WHY oh why did I read every word of that.

Homosexuality did not become prevalent in Spartan society until well after the 300. Post earthquake Sparta began a long descent & by the time homosexuality became "normal" the Spartans were a shell of their former selves.

Have you some story to share with us?

You know that's got to be quite nasty - often times when people die they will soil themselves. Could you imagine wearing someone's shitty clothes just to keep the intimidation factor up...
