Really fricking sad. My GF heard about the shooting but just now learned that it was a friend she worked with at Ocshner. I'm trying to console her but she just wants to be left alone to cry in bed. I hurt for her and her friend.
This shite gets me so angry. I love this city. I want to love this city. But shite like this....This is intolerable.

Maybe a little. It was also well known that the police could stop and question/search questionable looking people a lot easier without worrying about the cries of racism. And NOPD used to bust heads of trouble makers back then too.

Hung out in Maison Blanche for a while browsing Hardy Boys books before I hopped the street car back to Columns.

I worked with a guy whose father was the manager of Lucky Pierre's Bar (pre- Drag Queen) in the 60's and 70's. He talked about the "tough guys" that would take care of any trouble. He didn't come out and say it but he did say the trouble would disappear. He had some great stories of the prostitutes and the goings on of the place.

The only way to keep NOLA fun for tourists is to “sacrifice” someone every so often to keep the city “interesting”.
