My doctor told me that Clouds are not good to run in, but he and all the nurses wear them to walk around at work.

i don't know anybody who seriously runs that wears them.

i'm sure they are comfortable, but i'd rather just get a pair of brooks, hoka, or new balance and look a little less ridiculous.

I went to a real shoe store to get help fitting a pair of running shoes. They sell On Cloud and Hoka and none of the eight pairs Iwas given to try on were those brands.

On Clouds suck is my personal experience, even for just standing on them all day. My best all day standing shoe personal is Nike Pegasus 37

Well that's odd since Hoka is one of the GOAT's of running shoes.

most people that I see wearing On Clouds are nurses or people on their feet all day, not necessarily running.

I loved mine for running. Ran several halves in them. And I stopped but didn’t get fat.

As others have said, I’ve yet to meet anyone that actually runs in them. I have a pair I wear around town. It’s hard to beat a pair of Brooks Cascadia for running on all terrains. Although I really like the Altra lone Peak

Definitely stick with the Asics for running. The OC’s you see most people wearing wear down quick and don’t provide a lot of support.

They’re awesome to wear around town, they slip on and off easily, and can acceptably be worn with business casual. Most athletic shoes these days are too clunky to wear with chinos and not look like Ronald McDons.

Both of these brands design shoes with very specific shape and function and with very soft foam. They're good for your feet when new, but as the foam compresses and wears away, the shape and function are lost. These brands are designing shoes that need to be replaced much more frequently than the average running Joe is willing or able. (I have issues with the idea of a shoe designed to correct your form that also quickly hurts your form if you don't replace it every few hundred miles. Why not just work on your form in a shoe that won't cause as much damage? But that's a different topic.)

The "serious" running shoe market is currently dominated by brands trying to make lighter and lighter shoes that are still supportive, usually at the expense of durability. This is great for runners, but it's not great for consumers hoping to get more than 6 months of running out of a pair of $120-200 shoes.

Brooks makes the best running shoe IMO. Switched to them for refereeing youth soccer last year and will never wear anything else.
