The soles of the shoe do an excellent job of grabbing every rock and piece of gravel on the road. Running is easy when I’ve got to stop every 800 yards to pull a rock out of the sole.

I have been wanting to try On Clouds but they don't make a wide enough shoe for me. I wear a 10.5 4E so my choices are limited. After 6 pairs of New Balance 990's I tried HOKA's and they are very comfortable shoes for walking or standing all day. I do not run so I can't speak to how good of a running show it is. I do have Achilles Tendonosis and two herniated discs in my back and these HOKA's help to make staying on my feet and walking bearable.

FWIW I have a wide foot and On Clouds are one of the few shoes that a) don't hurt despite not having W sizes and b) make me look less like bigfoot.

I started running in them at least 7 years ago (cloudsurfer). I transitioned to the Cloudflow about two years later. I always got nagging little injuries here and there over the years, and I have been running for nearly 40 years. Since I changed to On Running I have not had one issue. When you put them on they are not some comfortable shoe that jumps out at you. However, they are very effective for me for running. I will agree with you that everyone is wearing these shoes today, but 90% aren't runners, it seems to be a fashion statement. When I'm not running I love Asics Nimbus shoes, haven't found any shoe more comfortable.

I had a pair I was given when I worked at Fleet Feet. I thought they were solid for walking but I personally didnt like them for running.

Asking others for their opinion on running shoes is fruitless, imo. You have to try them out yourself to know out it works for your foot.

I'll only wear them if a 19-yr-old fraternity kid wears them.

THIS is the best advice ! I never pushed my favorite on others, everyone is different. I began with Onitsuka Tiger, went to Nike Waffle, Saucony Jazz, Asics Gel Lyte, Mizuno Wave Rider, Brooks Adrenaline, Brooks Ravenna, Newton Gravity and finally to On Running Cloudsurfer and Cloudflow. I changed because eventually the manufacturer changed the shoe and It didn't perform the same. So far so good for the Cloudflows.

Yeah I have them and switch them to lace. Pretty comfortable. On the rare occasion I go to the gym I wear them.

Needed new shoes. I tied OC and Hokas, settled for the Hokas which felt more comfortable and were $40 cheaper...

I’m in the market for new running shoes and have never heard of this brand. Typically loyal to Brooks but maybe I’ll give them a look

Don't. I run 20-30 miles a week. I had some OCs and they were cooked in a month. Brooks will at least get me 4-5 months road running.

Fine for doing normal stuff, but these aren't good for exercise. I also didn't find them to be very cushiony or comfortable like my brooks adrenalines.

On Clouds are for the people who are “going to get into running”, run a 5k for the pic, then get fat again

I never bought them, but the last gym I was in was chock full of them, and to a person, they loved them.

I really like them. They are comfortable.

For all-day wear, highly recommend the high tops.

Theyre the only pair of running shoes I bought, went on a couple of runs in and brought them back. Ive had shoes I didnt like before but still rode them out for 200-300 miles but not On Clouds...the absolute worst running shoe I've ever tried

I tried a pair on, and they seemed comfortable though not very sturdy. I passed on them.

Most everyone I know in this situation swear by Hoka Ones.

I feel like a lot of shoes can fit into this category that aren’t falling apart after 16 weeks

Wearing a pair now. Not good at all for running. Great for just walking around doing stuff.

Yeah probably. Here's the reality with fads like this, they become socially acceptable because they're so popular. It's like wearing an Apple Watch with a rubber band to Court. Nobody is doing that with a Casio, but because tons of professionals wear AWs they don't look out of place after a while.

So for some of us who never wore Nikes or Brooks around town because running shoes seem too casual, OCs are better for that. It's vanity and kind of stupid, but I also think it's the reality.

I will say the classic ones are slip on and lighter than most shoes, so there is some practical advantage (maybe not 130 bucks every 4 months, but whatever).
