depends on who you talk to:
me- 3 out of 10. only issue is the summer outside environment on occasion with caustic chemicals, VOCs, 400 degree exchangers 6 inches from your face, working at heights of over 200 ft, carrying tools weighing 40 pounds up 12 stories....coworkers make a big deal out of it complaining and stuff about their "health" and "safety", so they may rate it harder. But stress free, no one looking over your shoulder, plenty of time to do the job, no criticism or critiquing, no politics, good/fair wage, and it's not "Un-safe" if you just follow the rules and use the proper tools for the job, "work" is about 4 hours/day, then the rest is office environment in AC, free coffee, and internet

About 2
I'm a civil engineer
Of course if I was a mechanical, electrical or petro engineer, it would probably be an 8 or a 9

On a bad day, my job is a 5. One day the jig will be up and my boss will realize a nutless monkey could do what I do.

You pretty much described my last job. Everyone there was unnecessarily miserable.
This week will make 1 year since I left to go back to grad school and I couldn't be happier.

Day to day administrative operations is a 3.
Mission planning, preparation and execution is complex and very ill-defined. An 8.

My job itself is not really difficult...
The people I deal with every day are, though
Job: 3
People: 9

I am a high school teacher and I would say a 1.5. When I taught middle school I would say a 2. Teaching is pretty easy and we get 40 percent of the year off or at least off from children which those days it might get to a 1

I would give my job a 6 out of ten. It would be a 3 out of ten if the engineers were not so smart. If they could actually hold a conversation and not leave you confused and feeling weird about what exactly you had to do and the purpose for which your doing it, I would have a lot less stress and minimal manual labor.

Totally depends on the day. Some days, a legit 10. Some days, I don't even know if I reach 1 on the scale it can be so easy. Depends on what the workload is. On average, probably a 5 (I've experienced other jobs with my company way more difficult that this, so I'm not going to pretend it's the hardest). But it does come with those days that make it a real pain in the arse.

2, but make money like it's a 10

I know many people who hate their job. That is miserable and I understand it b/c I hated offshore.
I'm blessed in that I really enjoy what I've done for the past 29 years, the past 19 as a owner. There are periods of concern whrn the economy nosedives or a program ends, but you work through it. The responsibility can be a bit of a weight, but you have to embrace that.
I feel like I hit the work lottery and I wish all the same for you guys.

Technical inside sales. If properly staffed we would be about a 4 or 5.
We should have 4 people to cover our territory (gulf coast and about 30 mil in business). 2 guys quit and we have had 2 for over a year now.
Until we get some help it will be a 7.5 or so.

On a 1-10 scale you've got to assume a 10 is like neurosurgeons and physicists and fire fighters and shite. YOu are not at an 8.5 despite whatever reasons you want to give.
What's the scale of difficulty on being a pompous arse?

I recently retired, following a long career in Federal law enforcement. It was an extremely difficult but, rewarding job for the most part. The work itself wasn't too bad but, the organization was terrible.
I give it a solid 9 because things can always get worse.

Turnarounds = 8

~2/10
Any nurse who wants to put in a year and a half of online courses can do it better and cheaper, apparently.
Would be 1/10 but those online courses count for something

I just started. Out of college.
I'm in the training phase of everything and it deals primarily with AutoCAD. If I had to guess, I'd say a 5, but it really depends on the project.

That was my favorite class in highschool, and I'm not being sarcastic.
ETA: haven't worked with it in years. Can only imagine all the cool stuff you can do with it these days
