Mine shifts from a one to an eight depending on the situation.

I don't care who you are, when store owners just look at you and honestly ask how are they going to feed their kids or go home to their wife and tell them about how much money they owe, it's tough.

9. And only because of co-workers/poor management. It could easily be a 1-3 if they'd just let us work and not bring the bs in every morning.

I'm a middle school teacher.

IMO It's very hard to do correctly. My first year was a mess ( it didn't help that I was moved 3 times). I read a shitload of material and started from scratch my second year. And it was night and day.

Many veteran teachers are still in the "ineffective " category.

Easy to do a shitty job, hard to do a great job.

Imma give it an 8.5 on the difficulty scale.

It's flexible which is nice, so I'd say about 4 or so. However, the only issues isn't so much large workload, but when a lot of crap comes up unexpectedly which takes up a chunk of time. Also, when I'm home at 4 or 4:30, I'm so sleepy too

It's relative. For me, it's a 4 and that's because business development suits my extroverted, bullshitter personality. I'm good at sales. For the typical engineer, it'd be excruciating.

I am lucky.

My work is very hard, but I'm convinced it doesn't really matter all that much. The technical side of it is fairly mind boggling, mainly due to the volume of unknowns and implications of the assumptions used to pin them down in the analyses, but big picture I don't think anyone really gives a shite as long as my answer is that everything's OK. So, I juggle the inputs and massage the report until it all makes sense, then hope like hell the next one doesn't require too much of a contradiction.

I'm pretty good at report sized bullshitting, I think it would drive most engineers crazy having to get the story straight after so many permutations.

dear Lord.

On a 1-10 scale you've got to assume a 10 is like neurosurgeons and physicists and fire fighters and shite. YOu are not at an 8.5 despite whatever reasons you want to give.

Hard as in physical labor...1. I fly a desk.
Hard as in mentally tough...4. It has its moments that I can be stumped.
Hard as in dealing with people...6. Sometimes you have those people.
Hard as in dealing with boredom...8.

I don't get paid for what I do, I get paid for what I know. Problem is it can get boring sometimes until something breaks.

Previous job didn't have the boredom, but it was riddled with politics.
