Two “healthy” 18 year old brothers both needing ICU care is “impossible” from a statistical standpoint. Like you said, they need to be looked at if they truly have no underlying conditions. Something genetic is at play that could help possibly figure out this virus more

Lafayette and LC are some of the hottest spots in the country per capita... not sure why some of you knuckleheads have a hard time understanding and believing that hospitals are full.

Hospitals are full however the covid percentage is still generally 25% or less overall though ICUs are disproportionately more covid

My personal theory. Probably wrong but I was there for an outpatient deal a few weeks ago where I was required to be in a room for 3 hours post procedure.. the lack of procedures, the patient rooms on my floor were basically empty and the admissions lady was adamant on how down they were in terms of surgical work, has led them to feel the need to close some floors and dedicate them to COVID floors to increase the bottom line.

They would do it. Dad is an anesthesiologist and mom is a nurse. It is interesting to note that they are both multiples; oldest is a triplet and other son is a twin.

I know it’s unpopular on here to say someone healthy is struggling with Covid. Maybe there is a genetic underlying condition but by all accounts, these boys are healthy. Both play(ed) high school football, one is more “stout” than the other but neither are fat, unhealthy slobs by any stretch.
We are just praying for the older one who is still very critical. And his poor parents who are going through so much with it.

You may want to remove the "good authority" checkmark from that source. My wife just texted another doc that is in the ED at OLOL and at the end of their shift today they had just under 100 COVID patients.
The staffing issues are from lack of ICU nurses and many on the COVID units now are med-surg nurses which is the reason behind the move in the OP. They simply don't have enough ICU nurses.

I thought the one on the hospital,was doing good, haven’t heard about them for a couple of weeks
