dont have a problem with that, but i would personally put Minnie Riperton over Whitney.. not in terms of # of hits, but just in terms of purity and quality of voice.. of course it’s very subjective and comes down to personal preference .

Good call, always loved Rita Coolidge from that era as well. While not as pure as Minnie, she could connect with her audience like no other performer.

As for range in that era, Donna Summer was tops.

I honestly loved her.
RIP.

Oh gosh, how could i forget Rita Coolidge ! She had a great voice... and i always associate her with Melissa Manchester, who was great as well.. maybe b/c ‘We’re All Alone’ sounds similar to ‘Midnight Blue’ , at least to me.

When I was a wee lad I heard her name and thought she was a musical trio. The trio consisted of Olivia, Newt, and John. My elder sisters ragged the shite out of me about it. I'll never forget it. CSB.

My brother (RIP) had the biggest crush on her.. I remember looking for something in his desk and ran across a signed pic of ONJ.. I gave him big shite for that. Actually his wife gave me the pic when she was going some of his things. I guess she is singing to him right now..

I'm young, but she was great in Grease and she was an excellent singer. Also very pretty and seemed like a cool person. RIP

A place
Where nobody dared to go
The love that we came to know
They call it Xanadu

Rest in Peace

On a side note, when I was a kid, the Dallas Cowboys had a kicker Effren Herrera. And I thought the announcers would say " Our friend, Herrera".
I told myself that he's not my friend, why don't they like the other team's kickers?
