And what area do they live in? From the mortgage thread, there is little to no jobs growing in small town America. What do your kids do?

Oldest daughter is in Greenville, SC works for the schools as a Speech Language Pathologist.

Youngest daughter is in Charleston, SC, IT Recruiter.

Having some serious discussions about the oldest moving to Charleston and buying a small house together with her sister. They are throwing away tons of money on rent each month. Plus, it would give the Mrs and I a place to stay for short vacations.

If you live in small town or mid size crap town in America, you better kiss em goodbye real serious like when they head to college.

There is nothing here for them. Yes, they can get some entry level job somewhere but it will be 20 years before they can live the life they want. My daughter is an engineer that initially went to Houston and is now in Huntsville. There is so much for them in Huntsville, Houston wasnt her cup of tea. There are quite a few cities in the SE like Huntsville with growing economies, relatively robust social activities and lots of young people. I have two more at home, if they both move off we may go somewhere else to retire.

The people that defend anything about this State are ignoring the lack of opportunity that it presents our kids and the bullshite 8 hour drive to see your grandkids one day.

I agree with you about small/medium sized towns. If there's no opportunity get the hell out and go where there is work for you.
