My co-worker said at a meeting he was tired of the mediocracy of our crew at work. No one corrected him so after the meeting I said to him "I don't see a lot of mediocracy at work but I see a lot of mediocrity." His face turned beat red after he realized he kept saying mediocrity wrong.
Man, errbody got a laugh outta that un. Good times.

Would of
Could of
Should of
Like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
I know two guys who say "intensive purposes" all of the time.
The poster who pointed out the coonie way of leaving out the preposition, "We went make groceries", grates on my ears.

The "show clause" penalty Hughbert Freeze is about to get hit with.

You are mishearing them. They are saying would've, which is the contraction for "would have", which is correct.

I'm seeing them on this message board all to frequently and it's not auto-correct.
But to your mis-guided point I DO hear probably the same dumbasses explicitly saying:
Would of
Could of
Should of.
And what would aggravate me about the misuse of these words if I didn't know that "would've" is the contraction for "would have"? Come on man. You really felt the need to point that out?
