I’m 27 and I know this.

Go to physical store or mail order catalog

Also, how did you know how to find your friends to hang out without cellphones?

Call their house or make future plans in person and trust that they show up

how would you quietly argue with your spouse while at work without texting?

Wouldn’t. Would blow up when you get home

Sears and Roebuck catalogs. A lot of these old timers glued pages together.

When I was 13 or 14 I had a torn out page from the 'Young Miss' section folded in my wallet for easy access.

Yep. And we’d meet up somewhere and go from there. Usually at a friends house.

There were also unofficially designated parking lots that people would meet up in if they hadn't made plans.

Sears and Roebuck catalog, son. Most big dry goods peddlers had catalogs, but sears and Roebuck was the best. You could look at all the toys, guns and then flip over to womens in panties when your mom left the room.

Lots of meeting up at the McDs on Tunnel Blvd in Houma back in the day.

Then when we were juniors and seniors in HS, we’d go drink at La Casa del Sol. It was glorious.

We also had a spot of Bayou Black road we’d go hang out and drink.

Good God, The Jager we put down

We got a McDonald's in Central about my freshman or sophomore year in HS. Always something going on there when there wasn't anything else to do.

Sometimes we'd just go inside and buy a coke, sit down and smoke cigarettes while we were waiting for people to show up

This thread makes me wish the grid really would go down from that EMP thing so I could laugh at the mass suicides of the internet addicted generation.

I was in HS in the mid 80s and drinking was a given. Buying alcohol was easy as shite. What did you guys in HS do for alcohol later on when MADD fricked everything up for kids and they changed the drinking age to 21?

Even after MADD there were still known stores that would sell to minors. The fines were low enough then that some stores just ate the cost of the violations. At least in my town.

We figured it out without being told how to do it by looking at Google. We actually had personal skills and an ability to do things without having to look it up on a phone. So antiquated compared to these days. Strange times we lived in before Amazon and mobile phones.

I turned 18 right around the time the law was changed but getting alcohol was never an issue in HS. There were plenty of places where we could buy it underage and a lot of us had older siblings.

I had a good friend in HS that was 21 in 11th grade

He dropped out for a few years and went back.

I remember when it was socially acceptable to call people like OP a "fig". They got their asses kicked and shoved into lockers. Times were better then.

I grew up in a village in india. On sunday we would all get our work done by 6pm. We had 1 TV in our street and we would all gather to watch the Sunday Premiere on 1 Channel that is available. Life was simple, fun and lot of socializing.

Now every one has 2 or 3 TV. They are all locked in their house
