Almost everything on your list has been around and been extremely popular for 10 years minimum.

Funny thing is it was his generation that made most of his list popular.

I've calmed down a lot - a combination of age and other factors.

But I still get furious over inconsequential bullshite like people failing to signal a turn or lane change. It's random. Sometimes I ignore it. Sometimes I have a meltdown.

So I'm 30, here's my take on the list

Reality TV - only low IQ people watch
Social Media - it's all fake
Rap - enjoy at parties while drunk
Vaping - prefer them doing that over cigarette
Weed - as long as it doesn't bother me in public
Tattoos - doesn't affect me in any way, it's their choice
Video games - played them a ton when i was younger and in college, not as much anymore, i enjoy a good story in a game though
Watching people play video games - yeah i don't understand the enjoyment unless maybe if someone is absurdly good at the game
Pronouns - Only pushed by people with mental illnesses
Food delivery - I prefer to save money by getting it myself
Hoodies in summer -
That mushroom poof haircut teen boys have - looks fricking retarded
Fantasy football and online sports betting - it's just normal gambling behavior?
Headphones in everywhere - i don't really notice this, don't really care anyways
Comic book super hero movies - hate this shite too, it's literally just a cash cow for Disney and it's ruining theater

It's actually a good thing that you are self aware and know what you like and don't like.

But don't let it get to you too much - enjoy life!

When we're young, we all want to be "Unique", "Special". We also want to be part of the "in" crowd. This conflicting set of desires results in a large crowd of unique, special lemmings all running toward the same generational cliff.

Among this crowd are a few who come to realize that most of the things that are "unique" and "special" are that way because they're stupid. These folks manage to fight there way out of the crowd before it goes off that generational cliff.

This is called "Natural Selection".

Of course, a few of these folks survive simply by being cushioned by the pile of dead bodies at the base of the cliff. These then congratulate themselves on their own genius and go on to become politicians.

I’m 37. I used to love reality TV. I love very few of them now. Here are the ones on the list I agree with and I’m not an “old man” just yet.

Reality TV - most of it is shite but growing up I loved almost all of it.
Rap - some of it I really respect (Eminem, Kendrick) but I don’t like glorifying ghetto culture, don’t think anyone but the artist benefits from making that “cool”
Watching people play video games - most of the games I hate but I do enjoy some
Pronouns - fricking retarded because 99% of the time it’s blatantly obvious, and 0.9% of the time, the person just wants to be different (she/them as opposed to she/her). It’s mostly straight white women doing this shite.
Mushroom poof - no idea what this is

But man everything else… honestly it sounds like you’re just depressed.

I am old too. And I agree that watching randos play video games is kinda dumb. However, it is cool to see a real pro play. Guys who are good enough to qualify for world championship tourneys and what not. I see it as being no different than watching chess or something.

Something changed and I think it has to do with social media during development as kids.

Starting w high school class of 2009-10 most high schoolers had social media for all of high school. Downhill from there.

Medical school in Shreveport dropped class rankings around 2018 because it was too much stress for the students.

Approximately lines up with your comments on 35 year olds and mine on social media prevalence.

I am just as old as you are, if not older (48). We grew up with everything on that list except vaping and prevalent social media. None of this is new. You just got older.

Social Media

You may refuse to accept it, but we are literally on a form of social media.

This is a tired trope that keeps getting repeated but its nonsense.

There's a HUGE difference between an anonymous message board where 90% of communication is written vs. the FBs and TikToks of the world where its all about vanity and appearance.

Beat up car pulls up next to me yesterday, windows down, blaring rap. Look over and it’s two white girls . Lots of tats. Early to mid twenties. They’d look nice without the tats and a little class in makeup and clothing.

Then I see their kids pop up from the back seat. Both of them mixed.

Yep. Just two single moms, out for a drive.

Things really are going to shite. The old men were right all along.

Can you tell the older women on social media this? They are bashing that poor girl to no end about her lack of class. I have said to a couple of them, you do know we went to HS and/or college together? I do remember some of the things you did back then

Hoodies in summer
This seems like a relatively minor one, but WHAT THE frickING frick????!!?

When did people start doing things actively against their own, easily discernible comfort?

It used to be more of a black thing, but now it seems to me like almost every young person where's heavy sweatclothes, even on the hottest days imaginable.
