Oklahoma City, Okla. (KOKH) — Starting November first, it will be against the law to drive in the left lane, unless you are passing in Oklahoma.
"What it mainly speaks to is, people that just drive in the left lane continuously for miles at a time," said Cpt. Paul Timmons with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
If you are pulled over, you could get a ticket for upwards of $200.

Louisiana has this law. It has not changed shitty driver habits one bit. Much like texting while driving laws.

won't work.......hasn't changed shite in Texas

Don’t get too excited. We have the same law here, and it doesn’t stop left-lane-loungers for shite.

That law is not uncommon.
It is never enforced.
And a lot of times, on highways, the left lane is clogged, but people are still technically passing some dick face going 50 mph in the right lane. So 65 mph traffic has to use the left.

Lots of states have that law. They just need to make a law stating that the law has to be enforced for it to actually work.

Louisiana has this law. I've seen it used once since it was established and it hasn't changed anything.
The one time I saw it used? I was stuck behind a car in the left lane going the same speed as the car in the right lane. There was a cop behind us and both cars were doing 65 in a 70. As my road rage starts to build, cop flips on the lights and pulls over the guy in front of me in the left lane. Justice

Witnessing this would be one of the most gratifying moments of my life.

What does this board consider the appropriate amount of traffic that justifies both lane use?
I see so much complaining on here about left lane abuse, yet most of the time I find traffic congested enough that the rule is senseless.

As soon as you pass somebody you need to move back over, even if you are gonna pass somebody else 10 seconds later

If there is a decently wide amount of space between a left lane driver & the car ahead of them, they need to get over or speed up. But they almost never do.

What the he'll does this mean? If the speed limit is 70, I cannot do that speed in the left lane? I am supposed to move out of the way to allow others to more easily break the law.

Ohio has this too, but people still do it.
I did see one person get pulled over for it though(at least I assume this was the reason). She was driving the speed limit in the left lane blocking traffic from passing a semi. I ended up passing her and made a stop to get gas. When I got back on, she had been pulled over a mile or two ahead.

Alabama has this law. It is almost never enforced and people are awful about it.

You are part of the problem.

I don't see what difference it makes unless you're obstructing traffic. That's the real problem.
