Huh?
Im in the left lane pretty much doing 80 in line with the other cars doing 80. We are passing the center and right lanes.

I don't see what difference it makes unless you're obstructing traffic. That's the real problem.
Generally speaking though, that is the problem. The majority of the time, it isn't like people in here saying "what if I'm driving the speed limit". 9 times out of 10, they aren't. They are probably going 5-10 below the speed limit. Causing cars that are trying to pass to change lanes and weave between traffic, which is much more dangerous.
The law is designed to try and deter that person that is going 55-60 in a 70 and holding up passing traffic.

Louisiana has this law. It has not changed shitty driver habits one bit. Much like texting while driving laws.
They have big arse signs along the entire Causeway. Don't matter, left lane huggin bitches give not a frick.
Same goes for I-10 between BR and Nola during commuting hours.

Can't wait til I can hail my robot car. Hop in and not have to worry about other humans driving
Honestly all humans should be banned from driving unless you pass an extensive class
Too many low IQs

Then they should say as such and not tie the law to the amount of time one spends in the left lane.

Doesn't work unless it's enforced. I see people in LA do it all the time in front of cops and no enforcement.

Laws aren't going to fix this problem. It needs to be PSAs. In the same way that we have to always see "Click it or Ticket" commercials and "Don't drive after you've had 6 jager bombs and a cosmo" commercials, we need to have PSAs on people cruising in the left lane and ruining our highways.

I would lose my GD mind. It’s bad enough on stretches of Burbank; I can’t imagine miles and miles of interstate on a regular basis.

The idea is that you move over after you pass. If you're constantly passing cars then you're doing it right. If you hit open road after passing, you're supposed to move over.
People who drive on the Autobahn do this to perfection. You also see people follow these rules well in other countries like Italy and Iceland.

It’s so damned annoying that cops continue to pull people over for going 8 mph over the speed limit, but refuse to enforce laws concerning activity that has been proven to be much more dangerous than speeding - clogging up the left lane and forcing people who want to pass to continually change lanes.

That's a much more difficult message to get across. You have to remember, people are stupid. This is an easier way to write and enforce the law.

The problem with PSAs in this case is that it is more subjective. The seatbelt is obvious; it’s either buckled or it isn’t. But left lane drivers will justify their shite with “I’m gong the speed limit; those people are speeding”, or “I’m passing that car a half mile ahead on the right”. People are too stupid to realize how much they frick things up & make driving more dangerous by hanging out in the left lane.

Well im not arguing that at all. As I said I stay in the left lane if im passing cars, which is always.
It's always the fig in the prius or sahd driving his shitty minivan doing 70 in the left and holding up the line of traffic.

Yep. I asked a guy in Germany about how they deal with slow drivers in passing lanes on the Autobahn. He almost couldn't grasp the question because he couldn't get past that it was illegal to do that and that nobody would. They know what they are doing there.

Indeed
Honestly the human element needs to be removed from driving
Especially with all the social media distractions. It's no longer safe or efficient
I had a stretch where my parked car was hit 4x in 6 months. Just lol. fricking humans not even once

It's more subjective but people are incredibly ignorant of the concept of the left lane being a passing lane. I think a modicum of education on the topic would go a long way.

Yeah if someone comes up behind you on the Autobahn and flashes their lights, you better get out of the way.
Enforcing this would be a great way for police departments to generate revenue, there's no shortage of offenders.

"What it mainly speaks to is, people that just drive in the left lane continuously for miles at a time," said Cpt. Paul Timmons with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
If you are pulled over, you could get a ticket for upwards of $200.
Would support suspending the license of the POS inconsiderate offender.
