Oklahoma City bombing

I just watched Oklahoma City on Netflix and it was a real good documentary. I was in the second grade when it happened and I remember watching the coverage of it and being tied to Waco the year before that. I knew Waco was about a cult wanting Armageddon but I didn't know what started all this in the 80s.
What was your reaction during the Waco inferno when it unfolded, was it anger that they burned the compound down or was the whole situation just freaked up no matter how it went down?
I feel bad for those who died in the OKC bombing but feel real bad for all the kids who died in the daycare inside the building.

It's amazing how innocent and naive this country was before the 93 WTC bombing, the OKC bombing, and 9/11.
Before the bombing in 93 you could drive an 18 wheeler in and out of the underground parking garage at the WTC with no security check or even a gate.

Oklahoma city was just a flat out terrorist attack, so we all felt pretty pissed just like we did on 9/11. we had no idea that the terrorists were US citizens.
Waco was just so fricking weird that no one really knew what to think. The government did put out a pretty serious stream of propaganda, so everyone felt like the whole thing was pretty much justified.

Ruby Ridge was way worse than Waco.
A family straight up sniped and murdered by the government. The compound in Waco was most likely set on fire from the inside. The government was trying to work with them.. to get the children out and have it go down better than Ruby Ridge.

I believe I was in 3rd grade when OKC went down. I dont remember Waco much, but there is a documentary out there somewhere on Netflix. It’s part of a 5 part series.
Anyway, I’m thinking my biggest question would be for my parents. As a kid, of course you are naive and not thinking about a building you are in being shot up or blown to shreds.
I feel like my parents raised me in an era where it was okay to play football, run around outside and play hoops at the park until sundown, etc. Now, the idea of that sort of tranquility is lost.
Anyway, I’m thinking my biggest question would be for my parents. As a kid, of course you are naive and not thinking about a building you are in being shot up or blown to shreds.

I always wonder how Timothy McVeigh would have been caught had he not already been in jail. I am thinking he was going to hole up in a house and go down shooting a la David Koresh. Even though the FBI seems to be inept, I never doubted that they'd find him. McVeigh never tried to hide his tracks.
He is not doubt an evil man, and warrants much more notoriety than he gets. Truly one of the worst humans ever.
Now, Waco is a little different. Over the years, I've gone from frick the Branch Davidians to a slightly bit more sympathy towards them. It never should have gotten to a hostage / hold out type situation. Why couldn't the FBI arrest Koresh from the outset instead of this ATF ambush? Koresh, too, was an evil man.
He is not doubt an evil man, and warrants much more notoriety than he gets. Truly one of the worst humans ever.

Yeah ol Tim was arrested so randomly. He gets pulled over and the cop sees the gun when his jacket comes up while he's reaching over. It's like.. Hey dumbass you just blew up a building.. hide the gun better.

I have this weird fascination with reading these people's manifestos or writings. McVeigh was obsessed with a book called The Turner Diaries and the Unibomber wrote Industrial Society and its Future.
I just find it interesting for some reason. I'm sure that I'm on some kind of FBI watch list from ordering this shite on Amazon but I've got nothing to hide

I felt The Branch Dividian raid was a horrible thing since so many kids died. Who was at fault has always been up for debate but the government screwed up and the Davidians were stupid to shoot back..... I was driving back on 35 from a mountain bike race in Smithville and passed near the compound the day of the original raid. There were it seems like hundreds of cop and fed cars everywhere that day on 35. We didn't know what happened til we got back to Dallas.

I was 31 at the time of the Oklahoma City bombing. I was shocked and angered. In my opinion, Tim Mcveigh deserved to have every bone in his body broken before he was executed. That was an arrogant, worthless excuse for a human being. I feel the same way about that pedophile scumbag, David Koresh. He is solely to blame for the tragedy at Waco. The feds only wanted him. Had he come out and surrendered like a man and not hid behind women and children like a coward, no one would have died. Imho, both Mcveigh and Koresh deserve to rot in Hell.

David Koresh and his lieutenant caused the Waco tragedy. The feds wanted Koresh on valid weapons charges. Had he surrendered like a man instead of hiding behind women and children, that tragedy would have never happened.

Yeah, right up until the point they decided it was a good idea to inject poisonous and flammable CS gas into a building while running tanks into it.
Regardless of whether Koresh or the government set the fire, it was beyond irresponsible of the Feds to do anything other than try to wait Koresh out.
