Poor performance isn't gross negligence. The young man escalated the incident not the police. The cops could have done their job better but the fault of the incident lies on him.

Um what?

provide a summary

Perp who had a warrant and resisted arrest from a black, male officer and jumped in his car. He was dumb. Female cop grabs her loaded pistol thinking it’s a taser and didn’t notice the difference in feel or weight between the two and shot perp. She’s also dumb and incredibly inept at her job. It was a bad shoot.

Here is a cop being recently executed by a guy on a window tint stop. This is the kinda shite they gotta deal with and this guy didn’t even try and resist.

LINK

I’ll never support a scumbag criminal that resists and has warrants and causes his own demise. I’m not even some huge cop supporter but frick all these criminal arse fools. Nothing but dregs of society.

If the victim complies, he'd be alive. Sadly, he asked for it and got it.

Once he gets back in the car, it's open season. The cop should not be punished, fool could have come out with a gun in a split second.

You thank liberal scum and BLM for making people that are qualified enough to be good cops, not want to be cops.

Will be plenty more accidents with defunded policr

Honestly, anyone who tries to resist arrest when they already have a warrant out for their arrest has a death wish. Maybe the cop was going to use the taser, but it would have just been a half-measure for someone like this.

He resisted arrest in his first arrest for having a weapon with no permit.

He didn't show up for his court date causing the warrant for his arrest.

Then he tried to resist arrest again after all of this. He had no respect for the law and now he's dead.

This is honestly a pretty good summary. The problem seems to be that so many people can only see things in black and white (not referring to race).

1- the driver wrestled with the officers and tried to run. He was in the wrong for doing that.

2- the officer who shot him grabbed her gun instead of her taser. While her intent wasn’t to shoot him with her gun and kill him, the fact is that she did. She was negligent and should rightfully face some consequences.

3- Just like the officer doesn’t deserve murder charges and the death penalty...the drivers bad decision no matter how “stupid” or wrong of him to do didn’t warrant his death. His bad decision does not excuse the officers negligence. But the fact he put himself in that position should not be ignored.

4- everybody needs to stop the BS posturing and be honest. This was tragic. It wasn’t malicious or because the officer was indifferent. He’s dead and her life is ruined. It’s going to affect many people’s lives.

Kinda like when the cashier rings something up twice on accident. Except with weapons and killing a person as a result

Nope, not watching.

I cant blame the cop in these situations. As soon as the guy jumps back in the car after resisting arrest - no idea what he’s doing in that close of a distance.

Exactly. This isn’t complicated. Not only did he do that, he had previously resisted arrest and missed a court date from a previous weapons charge.

None of that matters to some though.

I'm not sure how an officer mistakes a gun for a taser, but if the guy would have cooperated, he would be alive today. It doesn't excuse the cop's negligence, but his family will suffer the most because he wanted to see how far he could push things. I feel bad for his family and for the cop if it was a real mistake. But I don't really feel for the victim because he showed a clear pattern of wanting a bad outcome for himself.

I don’t think that matters in the moment.... it’s not like you’re thinking about that in the split decision you’re making.

However, don’t be a fricking idiot and jump back into the car in close quarters and you won’t get shot.

Unless they had already ran his name, which they had because they knew about the warrant. The officers would be on high alert after seeing those charges.
