Still, it doesn’t change the fact it seems incorrect they are letting go patient facing nurses today. Sorry that makes you angry and makes you think about swallowing dicks
I don't care if you do it on contract, salary, hourly, or for free.
Are these people with first hand accounts lying?

From what I can tell it's admin people and some of them sometimes deal with patients.

Yeah that’s strictly a cost cutting move because you can’t just cut that position or merge it with something else.
Assuming UHC is referring to Lafayette, they'll likely just move the LGMC pharmacy director into a "regional" position and expect that person to do the jobs of 3-4 people

Hospital I worked at for 29 years would go on a layoff spree about every 10 years. They would layoff a bunch of middle managers, nurse supervisors and consolidate departments.A few years would go by and they would start hiring some middle managers again, move some nurses into supervisory positions and deconsolidate departments.
A few more years would go by and they would go through a “restructuring” and start with the layoffs and consolidating departments again.
It was kinda crazy but amusing to me.I was just a bedside nurse doing direct patient care so it didn’t affect me.
A few times I was offered management positions but I always refused.I wasn’t about to get mixed up into that shite show, having to go to meetings all day and ultimately probably get canned during the next restructuring.
Besides,I really liked patient care.

Anyone who was a supervisor where my friend works. Her own, included. Who she said was a good one, and had patients. Now there’s nobody to do her work. And someone else who’d been there for like 30 years. She told me to remind her to never be a supervisor.
And they only got the email bc it was going to be on the news, so they wanted to beat it. How nice is that.

Not exactly true. They only got it this morning because someone leaked to the press. They had a plan to do it next week, but were in fire drill mode because they had to tell employees before the Advocate broke the story. This had been planned for some time now.

This is 100% true. The most fricked up hospitals I've ever seen were completely owned and run by physicians
I know 4 doctors very very well. Two I’d trust with anything. The other two are borderline retarded and I can only assume they can memorize the frick out of some study materials.

Well I had a 'pain management' doctor insist that I get an MRI just for him to tell me that he 'can't understand or read' my mri... his head assistant canceled my appointment 90 minutes before I was supposed to see my dr because the 'assistant got covid' (my appointment wasn't early in the AM and this was a few months ago)...i have had mris and xray appointments changed without me finding out before I took off work and showed up...his office can't seem to understand that I need to be seen after work (I get off at 3pm) because I am trying to build up as much time as possible because I know that I will need at least one major surgery.... so if they are trimming this incompetence then so be it.

The problem is that physicians are taught how to practice medicine and typically know frick all about how to run a business. So, someone needs to be there to actually run the business. That doesn't mean that admin aren't without faults, but they actually have formal education in what they are doing.
For many years the medical system was composed of private practice physicians with hospital privileges. They saw patients in their clinic and made rounds in the hospital. Then the government injected tons of money and said “know what we will pay you more for outpatient treatment in a hospital than in a private clinic” this drove hospitals to hire doctors and build massive systems.
That is now all starting fail. So I’d say your assumption and conclusion are completely incorrect.

Did I mention clinics? And BTW, even 40 years ago doctors still had office managers that ran the business. Private practice docs were making so much money then that it didn’t matter if it was well run. There was plenty money. Part of the trend towards employed doc is because many new ones want it that way.
But hospitals have always had someone to run the business side of things.

Ochsner had its first financial loss in over a decade last year, but still paid out leadership bonuses. The E-team bonuses aren’t cheap. They should have cut bonuses and saved jobs instead of laying people off. Not a good look.

I could see this being the case.

Are they going ahead with the ridiculous medical school with Xavier? The 5th medical school in Louisiana.

Ochsner sucks and people should be worried with the conglomerate it is becoming.
I wouldn’t worry about it, I’ve been assured that The Market will ensure we get the best medical treatment possible.
