Humans2Venus Foundation

quote:

The co-founder of OceanGate Expeditions doesn’t appear to be deterred by the Titan submersible tragedy, and is pushing the limits of extreme travel with ambitions to send 1,000 humans to live in a floating colony on Venus by 2050.

Guillermo Söhnlein — who co-founded OceanGate alongside Stockton Rush in 2009 but later stepped away in 2013 — is also the founder and chairman of Humans2Venus, which he describes on LinkedIn as “a private venture focused on establishing a permanent human presence in the Venusian atmosphere.”

“Forget OceanGate. Forget Titan. Forget Stockton. Humanity could be on the verge of a big breakthrough and not take advantage of it because we, as a species, are gonna get shut down and pushed back into the status quo,” Söhnlein told Insider.

OceanGate and people on Venus makes me think the outcome will be the same as Heaven's Gate.

So instead of evaporating under water, you can now evaporate in space.

He wants to do a floating structure in the atmosphere, but it’s still as dumb as a box of rocks.

In fairness, the idea is a floating habitat 30 miles up where the gravity is 1 G, the pressure is 1 ATM and the temperature is in the high 70s.

Who in their right mind would want to live like that?

Venus…. The planet we can’t get a probe to the surface of because of the atmospheric pressure and the acidity of the atmosphere?

He gonna build that containment out of recycled paper towel tubes and guerrilla glue?

Yeah. Ain’t it about 800 degrees on Venus?

In fairness, scientists were eventually able to penetrate the atmosphere and land on the surface. The probe was nearly dead by the time it landed. Nothing we have sent to Venus has survived for more than 2 hours.

It takes several months of space travel to get to Venus, and almost everything that survives that journey gets fried and dies soon after entering its atmosphere.

Isn’t the atmosphere of Venus saturated with sulphuric acid ? Smells like a shitty plan.

2050

These predictions are always hilarious. We still won't have flying cars or real hover boards in 2050.
