FIFY. Please. This is the New York Times. If you don't like whatever somebody else is doing, not even to you, then it triggers you.

It's just a joke article from the opinion section. at all you taking it seriously.

This person has a history of writing this type of stuff. Even though it reads as satire, the author is serious.

At birth each of us is gifted a physical vehicle not of our choosing. We live in this vehicle and what we chose to do with it is in our control. Some choose to do great things, some feel self pity. Some have limited chances due to defects.

For those of us who have functional vehicles we should be grateful for what we have and not judge others.

The difference in us is the style of our vehicle. But that’s a huge difference apparently.

I'm only tall compared to other people. Put me next to a sky scraper and I'm nothing special.

Thats fine and dandy for an opinion piece, but if they truly believed this . . . .

Then they wouldnt ask for my help in retrieving something from the top shelf at Rouses. If you cant reach it, starve

And to top that off, most step stools they require are made with petroleum products

The planet isn't going anywhere. We could stack plastic to the moon and the earth wouldn't care. The plastic would eventually break down (takes a while, but it would) and the earth would go back to how it was.

The earth will be sitting here with vegetation, oceans and pristine rivers long after we're extinct. And then in 5 billion years, the Sun will swallow up the Earth once and for all anyway. It will boil the oceans off the surface (without any human help) and utterly render the planet sterile. And then billions of years after that, the Sun itself will die leaving all satellites that remain cold and dead.

Oh, and even that will be nothing but a blip to the universe, which has countless trillions of other Suns to worry about.

Tl;DR - We humans think too highly of ourselves and believe we are far more consequential than we are. Neither the planet or the universe is affected by us at all.
