Games almost never go over two hours. No commercials to stop play. I love watching soccer and every other sport. But, it's easier to watch than just about any other spot.

A baseball game can go four hours with a 1-0 final score.

And a low scoring game can be great.

Game 7 of the 1991 World Series, for example.

Is there a sport with more gatekeepers than soccer?? They actively chase away the average fan without realizing it

I don't watch soccer because I have testicles, but I've always grudgingly enjoyed the World Cup. I'll usually pick a team based on how pro-American they are at the moment and how cool their unis look. So go Poland or South Korea or Japan or Argentina.

Likely all more pro-America then the American team.

True, but that can be said for any sport. 2011 LSU v Bama in Tuscaloosa had zero touchdowns and was an epic game.

This sums it all up. Every NYT article since Pele came to the cosmos in the early 70’s has included the statement soccer is a growth sport in the US.

Sounds like a great opportunity for a gigantic ICE operation!

I’m sorry but the MLB is far from exciting. That league is like watching paint dry.

Maybe because it's split between the USA, Mexico and Canada?

And live sports are now just ridiculously expensive.

Pre pitch clock maybe.

That’s no longer anywhere close to being true even with commercials between innings.

Agree with sentiment

I live in Houston and we have several games here, I hear people talk about it from time to time, but I just don’t see as many billboards, murals, etc., as I see other countries. We made a big fricking ordeal out of it whenever we were granted the World Cup but now that it’s here, it seems that nobody gives a shite.

This is really the answer. I love soccer, but I don't want to pay the prices they want.

Right now in Houston, Germany vs Curacao is gonna rune me $2,218.00 for 4 tickets.

Rooms at the Marriott Marquis are $514 a night.

Do I have it, yes. Do I want to pay $3k+ to see Germany vs Curacao?...No. Advanced stages will be costlier.

FIFA priced out a lot of people with ridiculous prices.

this is what makes attending and travel just too intense and expensive for a general fan

the geographic size and lack of flexible, affordable transportation between cities and then even in the city travel to the stadiums themselves make each match so hyper local

you can’t just fly from overseas and say “let’s go to Houston, LA, New York, Mexico City”

Flights, hotels, travel and traffic to and from the stadium requires a lot of money and planning

And then locals to each area, expensive tickets, general lack of soccer excitement and team USA being bad all contribute

Everything you said is true. Another factor is the size of our stadiums. Some clubs in Europe and elsewhere have some big stadiums, but the average stadium in England for example seats about 40,000 people. Ours average double that. A lot more tickets to sell.

Average Premier League match is 100 minutes, and no ads until halftime.

I watch damn near every sport, but the amount of ads we get fed in the most popular ones is insane.
