Now it's Government Street's turn with awful drainage issues.

Looks like rain will continue for another week as well. I'm sure Riegel will be excited to write a follow-up.

Is there anywhere in Baton Rouge that isn't experiencing ridiculous drainage problems?

Something is majorly fricked up. I'm getting drainage backups at my home that i've not seen in 15 years.

The problem is people are trying to drive down government. You are supposed to ride your bike now. It’s called progress.

Let's go ahead and close down the single lane of traffic we have left for an above-grade drainage canal and pump system. That way, no cars can traverse it at all, and it will be a combination of beautiful green space and piping. Because Baton Rouge gonna Baton Rouge.

DPW f&%ked up BIGLY. Government Street was, before they started working, literally the least flood-prone area of town.

I think blaming it on the medians is bullshite and I've been on Govt st almost 25 years. Those things are spaced apart and in the center of the road. How the fack that causing drainage problems ?

It's raining like a son of a bitch. that's why.

ETA. if it's just mulch coming up that's easy enough to solve

Remax is a joke. I hope someone contacts them and tells them there is a guy posting on a message board under their name making them look like a complete joke of a company (well an even bigger joke).

Their design allows for the mulch they use to flood out of the medians and clog the drains. That's a result of a poor design or a poor execution by the contractor.

Hate that this project didn't work but very happy to say "I told you so".

I just checked my 2 storm drains. They're both half clogged already with mud and muck as usual. No sign of mulch at all. You'd see signs of mulch all over if that was the case.

Well they aren't maintaining the drains properly in that regard, but my point is, what's new?
