Companies don't generally lay off accountants so either your company is in dire straights or you suck at your job and they think they can replace you with either a cheaper employee or one who gets paid the same but will be more productive.

Look on the bright side, some of us have days where we'd volunteer as tribute for the right package.
Go find something that gets you through the next 5 or so years before you either get canned or lose your mind and bail.
