It's all about standing and protocol.
Saturday IS Endymion.
Sunday IS Thoth and Bacchus. Thoth is as big as Endymion, member-wise, or it's VERY close.
The city still has a certain pecking order, which is why they don't like to reschedule, or postpone to another night. That's why Endymion would go last in this equation.
Interesting story. TL;DR. MIL a few years ago was ready to go as soon as the parade ended/passed and I tried to sneak the van from City Park parking by the City Putt, across Orleans to pick her arse up. I was able to sneak through, but the NOPD trying to keep traffic out of the sanitation guy's way: "Where you tryin'to go? Where? This is Endymion....you can't just get through.

About 90% of the bands wouldn’t play when they were marching in certain stretches of the parade route

Where on earth do you get this from?
Where bands play along the route is completely random with the exception of under the Pontchartrain Expressway and at Gallier Hall.

the opposite.. was in a band and we would turn our horns up and blare for maximum echo... crowd seemed to dig it and we had a blast!!

I am sure there are points through parade routes where bands have to rest. You can't expect a marching band to perform the entire route.

I meant to say those are two places that they always play. Under the bridge is my favorite place to check the parades because the bands always play their best stuff and the echo is awesome. Sometimes they get in special formations but the police have tried to limit that recently to keep the parade moving.

And this is yet another reason this city is so screwed up. You are 100 percent correct, though.
When weather hits, everyone should pitch in and do what makes the most sense for the city, especially the first responders. This whole image and pecking order thing is absolute crap. It's one year, no one is asking them to change permanently. But because no one wants to tell these very powerful people to check their egos and get along for once, we all have to suffer.
