Title says it all. Or feel free to add something, like baseball card shops or something.

I think overall the demise of toys r us is sadder in terms of kids not having that experience any more, but, personally, blockbuster played a huge role in my teenage years and is more of a nostalgic loss.

Eta- I think the streaming and on demand services is an improvement over the blockbuster model of renting physical media, so I’m all in favor of that evolution. I don’t think ordering toys online is an improvement over the brick and mortar experience of toys r us.

Toys R Us. I don't even own a VCR or DVD player anymore and haven't had a need in years.

Blockbuster the bigger nostalgic loss. Toys RUs the bigger practical loss.

Toys R Us by a landslide. I wish I could have seen my face as a child walking in to a giant toy store.

I never had love for Blockbuster. Yes renting movies and NES games will always be a fond memory, but I went to local videos stores.

Toys R Us will be missed. I liked taking my kids there. Last time I went, a couple months ago, it was so sad.

Blockbuster! You could rent every movie within a few months of it coming out for a couple dollars. Now it is hit and miss with streaming.

Yep. I remember trying to hide the fact that I had 102 fever from my grandma just so she wouldn't cancel our planned trip to the mall.

Toys R Us for sure. Blockbuster was always a pain in the arse. Just a chore that had to be done to try to find a movie to watch.

It was. At my local store, I could get most movies for a cheap one-night rental. Blockbuster comes along, local store goes away, and suddenly I have to pay for a three day rental for a movie. Nothing magical about a blockbuster although I still do have my membership card.

Blockbuster had the opportunity to develop streaming services around the same time Netflix was switching from DVD delivery to streaming. Nobody should feel bad for Blockbuster. They are a victim of their leaders short sightedness.

Toys R us is just another victim of technology.
