Close but Toys R Us. I would literally sprint through that first little part where you had to go through the winding mini aisles to get to the store proper

Toys r us. My oldest is 5 and I took him a few times over the last few years. Took my 3 year old daughter once a few months before it closed. Even with the one here being in pretty shitty shape it was like they were walking into Disney world. Brought back a flood of memories. Walmart, Target, or ordering shite off amazon just doesn’t have that same impact.

It sure isn't blockbuster. They are as pointless as a used rubber.
But Toys R Us doesn't really make me "sad" either. They failed to adapt. If they would have made online shopping easier and would have designed away for going to Toys R Us, to be more of an experience, they would still be in business today.

Toys r us - everything Blockbuster did was self inflicted stupidity from 2001 onward. They passed on buying Netflix when offered, did that stupid no late fees which meant granny was holding onto the new releases after picking them up when the store opened on Tuesday for two weeks this killing weekend sales, then refusing to keep up with Netflix after their mailing service evolved into streaming.
Worked there in management and everyone from the regional managers on up were complete idiots that thought nothing would happen to the mighty Blockbuster.

TRU was nice but I was in Blockbuster as a kid damn near every Friday afternoon after school renting an NES or Genesis game.

The opportunity that Wal-Mart has/might be missing is to replicate that inside their stores - they already have a huge amount of space dedicated to toys - with a little creativity and planning, they can kit out that space with some of the amenities that Toy R Us had - have a separate, walled off section (like Lawn and Garden), during the October to November timeframe set up kiosks so parents can go shopping and order what the kids want to be delivered or set for pick up at the store.
I mean, everyone buys toys at Wal-Mart or Amazon now, right? Wal-Mart has the advantage of all these physical locations - Toys R Us is gone - why not leverage that?
