How ironic that we are dealing with a public health crisis, and she’s worried about how she should be addressed. She will flourish in Biden’s America.

In the medical sciences including data science, they consider a doctorate in public health akin to a sociology degree. This isn't to say that she shouldn't be proud of her degree, but the fact that title recognizing is so important to her tells me that she knows this to be true as well.

Her twitter.

Her tweet history is pretty much what you’d expect of somebody demanding to be called Dr.

I prefer to be called “Jedi”. That’s how I FEEL and if you don’t call that,, you are a bigot. Thank you.

Not that I have any problems with her political leanings, but she tweets how you’d expect for a person demanding somebody call her Dr.

I’m shocked.

I agree. I’m certainly proud of my degree, but not proud enough to insist that someone separate myself from them just because of my level of education. It’s silly. Especially when I neither went to med school, nor can I prescribe medication.

I wonder what the percentage overlap would be of those on this thread who firmly believe the jackass is in the right for refusing her request, and those who would be offended if I repeatedly referred to the leader of their religious institution by their first name instead of Pastor, Father, etc. I have to think it would be quite high

I respect someone more with a 16 week phlebotomy certificate than a phd in public health. I’m not even joking.

A PhD in public health just tells me you were willing to spend a lot of time and money on college courses. Covid has exposed public health to be a complete and total failure. Anyone who demands to be called a doctor without an MD is an a-hole.

Should we start addressing those with masters degrees as Master?

Probably not as high as you'd think. I'm not calling those people by their title unless I'm in church with them as a sign of respect. And I only go to church for weddings and funerals.

Kind of like the fake news constantly referring to President Trump as Mr. Trump?

If someone wants me to call them Joe, I'll call them Joe. If they want me to call them Pastor Joe or Father Joe, I'm good with that, too. And I'm an atheist. I just think it's basic human decency not to make a big deal out of what people want to call themselves, as long as it's within the realm of reasonable. And I would think both Father Joe and our dear PhD would fall into the category of reasonable requests.

I wouldn’t have kept doing it multiple times in an official meeting even on zoom like he did (would have done it once as it’s obviously touches a self importance nerve the lady has), but she pushed it before and then with this guy after he told her her concerns about a project near her home was off topic. If anything they both need to go.

She wasn’t there specifically because of her PhD making it worse and wanted to address concerns about a project near her home that were not part of meeting’s agenda. Save that crap for the classroom where students have to put up with professors’ narcissism not serving as a regular citizen or asking questions as one in her own self interest.
