New Orleans food is good but has nowhere near the variety you can get in a bigger city like NYC or even Houston.
U know others have pointed out how much of an idiot this is but still I’ll add on

New Orleans was the only American city in the top 20
That's suspect.
That is New Orleans Inc. doing work and dropping some coin in the judges pockets or there is a New Orleanian or Louisiana native in management at the publication.

I could go to New Orleans for a month and eat 3 meals a day at a different place every time, and still wouldn't come close to all the places I want to try.
Now this I agree with. Pound for pound it is hard to beat New Orleans.
But we are are still a bantam weight compared to NYC, Tokyo, Paris, etc.

So crime, murders. and neglected families over safety, good schools, etc.
In Nola. Never been victim of crime, murdered, or neglected my family. Sent kids to amazing schools.
Lived in H-town for over a decade. The rat race nearly stole my sanity and attempted to murder my soul. The physical plant of schools do rock, tho!

I'm sure New Orleans has wonderful food. My wife speaks highly of a few restaurants there.
But I will never go. So give me a Braum's double cheeseburger and a shake and this old boy is happy.
But for my two cents, it's Florence, Italy.
The West was won on beef--not crawdads and soupy rice.

Agreed and then you see Madrid at #5... Yeah okay whatever. Barcelona is ten times the food scene as Madrid.
They put these BS rankings out all the time.
Love the nola food scene so much but it is not NYC or London and never will be.

You lost me at “London”.
Tells me you don’t know London food scene.

What Nola and Bangkok and many other cities have that separate them from places like NYC and London is great locally grown, harvested, and cooked food. Great food unique to their area.
Any huge city has great restaurants and they have the money, population, etc to make it work. I just personally am not a fan of eating something like Indian in london when I could go to India, or Chinese in NYC when I could go to China.
I love to travel and eat fantastic local food that’s grown and cooked uniquely for that area and best locally.
Nola is fantastic for that. FWIW.

NYC just abounds with small places to get a quality soup or salad or sandwich or anything ethnic and a decent price. The diner/bodega culture of the city really delivers on cheap eats that are genuinely good
NYC does have a lot of those places. In New Orleans you can go to gas stations though and get food that's basically as good as food that people would rave about in expensive restaurants elsewhere. And you can get it for dirt cheap. New Orleans screws up so much, but the food is up there with the best.

Italian is to St. Louis what Creole is to New Orleans.

Is this a reason to not leave NOLA? I mean Amazon or other stores can ship me cookbooks and any Louisiana ingredient I need. Learn to cook and you can take Louisiana food to Mongolia. It’s either that or stay in this shite hole.
We got Mardi Gras, Saints, and No 1 on some subjective ranking of food. You’re an idiot for leaving NOLA!

This. To even think Houston is better is crazy. Houston is soulless and just a mixture of food one can find anywhere. Like most other cities. One thing we have is food. Louisiana, in general.
