Keep in mind with 3 checkpoints consolidated into 1, the lines will be longer. Just hopefully the number of TSA checkpoints in place is high enough so that they move quicker. It's the same setup as stores go through to handle the Christmas rush. The visual of a long line may be a bit misleading, you have to go by time.
That being said, a Louisiana thing to do would be to not anticipate, calculate, or design this into the amount of available room on the public side of security to be roped off in an orderly fashion.

Because I’m a tool, and mostly fly SW, I’ve never gotten tsa pre-check - question for those that've been - is there a SouthWest priority line for A list?

This was awful, especially with Soutwest.
This was a staffing issue. Their local management figured more people would use the kiosks than wanting/needed to talk to an agent.
I had asked a swa customer service agent about the long lines.... and thats exactly what she told me.... the management scheduled 3 CSAs for some of the busiest weekends all year.
Does that satisfy you LSUFANHOUSTON or did she miss out on a contract or have some ax to grind?

I did not see one this morning so I had to wait in TSA-pre.
You should definitely get the TSA-pre. It’s weeelllllllllllllllll worth it. $85 for FIVE years.

I know. I really need to do it. Lazy I guess.

Its not. Don't listen to him. I have it so please don't waste your money and get TSA-Pre. The normal lines are not that bad.

When will the new terminal be a significant improvement over the old for the flying, tax paying public??
Well, for a lot of people, it already is...
Seems for some people traveling at peak times... it's no better than the old facility but no worse at all.
Some of you seem hell bent on comparing peak times at the new terminal to non-peak times at the old terminal.
I guess I should expect that level of intellectual dishonesty from some of you.

Well it actually EXACTLY proves my point.

Nah.
According to the experts on the O-T, one line of 20 people is MUCH MORE CROWDED than 3 lines of 10 people.

I wonder who is responsible for that - TSA or the airport? In any event, line ropes are cheap and easy to quickly order.

Yes. It’s in between PreCheck and the general security line. Sign says “First Class/Priority”

My experience today at the new airport was amazing. Granted it was lunch on a Tuesday. The place is nice. All restaurants and bars were full and doing a lot of business. Lines were very efficient. Traffic in and parking was a breeze.

As much as it pains me to say it, today 11ish it was a grand total of 15 min from the Loyola exit to drinking in the sky lounge. This included a bag check.

Well, this airport is pretty nice. 30 minutes from downtown Nola to the Mondo bar. Parking is easy. Security is easy. Employees all like it butvsay they’re are some kinks as expected. Looks like they may have done good.

Terminal is nice.
Rental car center is too far. It shouldn’t be a 20 minute bus ride.

Yeah that’s dumb but I don’t have to deal with that fortunately. Many airports are similar. I think finding them in the terminal or within walking distance is rare in my experience.

Let me summarize this thread for everyone:
1. Some posters don't like New Orleans.
2. Some posters don't like the idea of a new airport.
3. The new airport has some growing pains.
4. The growing pains are being worked out, and are overblown.
5. The new airport is 100000x better than the old airport, much to the chagrin of people associated with 1. and 2.
Admins need to kill this stupid thread.

Flew out of it last night around 6ish. Drove right into the new long term parking garage, got through TSA (non-precheck) in under 10 minutes. I think I counted 6 scanners, and only 4 had lines going through them. Granted it wasn't during peak travel time. I would think it would be better if they let you choose your scanner line after TSA did ID checks (similar to Hobby) so incase there is one line that is taking a little longer, the others could compensate.
Ate at the Leah's Kitchen restaurant. No complaints.
