Weather is a bigger threat in NOLA according to Mitch the Bitch than murders, robberies, carjackings, rapes, etc. etc.

Thats not what kennedy is saying

He is saying stop and frisk the usual suspects to find the illegal guns

Which is reasonable

stop and frisk is defintely not the answer. Most of these criminals on the street are repeat offenders. Maybe we shouldfix the broken Justice System first.

This. The virulent OMG they want our guns knee jerk reaction. Kennedy is clearly talking about illegally carried guns being used by felons.

The irony is that there's nothing that would lend more credibility to Landrieu's potential presidential run than fixing the perpetual, well-known issue of violent crime in New Orleans. But it's the one thing he's determined to ignore.

Well, short of mandatory sterilization and swift executions, what can possibly be done about it by a mayor with no money to hire more cops?

And Kennedy had strong words for Mayor Mitch Landrieu. "I'm sure the Mayor has an opinion on climate change, he probably has an opinion on world hunger, world peace, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - but he's the Mayor of New Orleans and he's got 11 months left, and he needs to concentrate on one thing and one thing only and that's crime," said Kennedy.

It is completely BS we cannot have a safe city.

While the crime rate is certainly unacceptable, has New Orleans ever really been a "safe city"?

The Mayor looks forward to working with our Congressional delegation on improving public safety. We have long made detailed requests of them to restore funding cuts that decrease federal support for police officers and grants that would help New Orleans protect against a terrorist attack—specifically the COPS and UASI programs. We look forward to more engagement with them on continuing to improve proactive, Constitutional community policing efforts."

Isn't this the same mayor that implemented a hiring freeze on the NOPD and said to look to local mayors and not Washington for leadership?

I mean, if he could find a way to multitask and also do something about street repair and the ineptitude of the S&WB at the same time, that would be great too. Water has been gushing out of the Filmore & St Roch intersection for months.
