Any chance Torres runs? He seems like the only guy with a brain in that city that would be interested in the office.

Is there such thing as a predominately black city with a low murder rate?

So you're amending tour statement to age limit now all while totally missing the point of my post. Good for you!

The ones running the city into the ground are the same ones who didn't miss a day of work to go to the polls and vote for ole Mitch

Dude was arrested at the Jeff Davis monument protest.

By just looking at those names and what they do for a living I would blindly select a business man over any judge or councilman from this city.

Sidney Torres made Mitch look like a bitch in the local NOLA Media war of words regarding crime years ago.

The stat of it being little less than slightly effective or unconstitutional cannot sway the desires of small government "Don't Tread On Me" conservatives.

Can't wait for their support of State Troopers pulling over "suspicious" trucks for tread depth inspections.

Yep I moved to Nola about 6 years ago. The crime has gotten completely out of control ever since school got out for summer. We know exactly who is causing the crime, YOUNG BLACK MALES from poor areas. They need to get the national guard over to those areas and stop every suspicious looking young black male. We are working professionals and we pay a fortune in taxes. The best and brightest will leave this city if this problem does not get solved, and that includes my wife and I and our tax dollars. It won't be statues or global warming that drive us away, it will be crime and atrocious infrastructure.

Broken Windows Theory.

And Sidney Torres.

That shall be New Orleans' salvation. How do we make both happen?

ETA:

I'm against minor drug offenses leading to jail, but Stop and Frisk looking for weapons is fine by me. Just a very focused search for weapons and running people's names in the system for warrants for violent crimes...then let them go if they don't go into either bucket. It goes against my small government ideals, but its nearly to the point of martial law down there.

Also, violent offenders need longer jail terms, while minor first time drug offenses should be waived to make room in jails for the violent people.
