New Orleans voters rejected a new property tax Saturday (March 30) to support elderly services, money the Council on Aging intended to use to shorten waitlists for its Meals on Wheels and housekeeping services programs. Unofficial results showed 12,335 ballots, 71 percent, were cast against the proposal.

Also, Latoya was against it. Now, granted, that may be only because she has her own tax increases she wants to pass. But, she was against this one and talked as if she saw this for the sham it was.

I'd think it's also because people already pay a ton of property tax and get nothing for it

She must not have been able to secure a proper kickback from their COA if she was against it.

Think she was against it because it paid to a private business.

The turnout was abysmal.

EBRCOA is not a government agency and our leadership and the morons here voted to give them over 8 million dollars a year.

I guess Gravy didn’t come down to NOLA to throw his weight behind the issue.

This is your friendly reminder that Barbara Freiberg is a spineless bitch who caved to Broome’s bully squad. Vote her out.

I'm glad this potential tax lost, but I can tell you that the Council on Aging in New Orleans does actually help the homebound elderly with the meals on wheels program compared to the Council on Aging in Baton Rouge which should be shut down for being a dishonest, piece of $hit organization.

The turnout was ridiculously low because it was the only item on the ballot. But I definitely made it out to vote because my property taxes are high enough.
