So they used to let anyone who applied get in?

Pretty much, they get federally backed loans to pay the tuition and fund their “operations” and at that point it doesn’t matter if the students continue to attend the school once they get the loan proceeds.

By 'traditional student population', you mean people reading and writing at a 7th grade level.

I have lived in New Orleans for 10 years and can’t say I know a single SUNO graduate

To be fair, they probably only graduate about 50 people per semester and who would hire graduates from SUNO for any legit position?...unless you need some fast food line managers

That’s insulting to seventh graders, honestly. They still have potential to improve.

Hotel and restaurants valets.
SUNO has an excellent hospitality program.

When the State of LOUISIANA requires you to raise your standards, your 'traditional student' must have the IQ of a sandwich.

"Enrollment has dwindled, falling to 2,308 students in the current semester, down 15% from five years ago, when 2,724 students signed up."
Figuring out that percentage probably was required 3 months of research of from the math department head.

If you can't get into SUNO you don't need to go to college. Go learn a trade.

Don’t downplay a sandwich to that level

It won’t be a popular opinion I’m sure, but this shite needs to end. If we had a “historically white public university” the outrage would be never ending.

If you want to understand how one HBC has gone out with a whimper, search Knoxville College,Knoxville Tennessee.
I'm still trying to figure out how there was a graduate last year when there were no classes taught, no faculty employed, and most of the buildings were condemned for occupancy.

The South had many for decades. Because they were segregated.

If you can't get into SUNO then making it in a skilled trade is out of reach too.

Do you know why we have HBCUs? Do you know James Meredith is still alive at 86 yrs young?
HBCUs are very important to the country as a whole. But yea SUNO does need to be shut down. It's not worth saving when SU is up the road.
