Just got a robo call from the school system. "No student will receive a failing grade during this transition period."
Summer vacation just started for lots of kids in our school system.

What school system?
Our public school system has said the student's 4th quarter grade will be an average of their first three quarters, however, if the student does this online learning stuff, the teacher can raise it. However, they can't lower it for not doing stuff.
So, if a kid has gone F, F, F first three 9 weeks and doesn't do any of the online learning stuff, they will absolutely fail.

My wife is a public school teacher (I know. Strong prenup for when I eventually find out) but she’s not allowed to give students a 0% for a non-turned in assignment. Basically, kids in Louisiana public schools have to go out of their way to fail. I think the lowest grade they’re allowed to give is like a 50% and even then they’re supposed to let the kids make-up the score.
Even then, if the kid chooses to not do the assignment; the principal will call teachers in and make them justify the grade.
ETA: Public school teaching in Louisiana is basically just glorified child care. Even she will admit this. There’s no real expectation for these kids to perform.

That's so sad.
Meanwhile in my house, my kids are frustrated because they will have final exams just like they would have if they were in school.
Daughter got very pissy yesterday when the school sent out guidance that you have to have have made all A's for each quarter for the non-elective classes in order to be exempt from the final.
She's a Sr. with a 3.75 GPA and was hoping to be done with school in two weeks.
Private school.
Meanwhile in my house, my kids are frustrated because they will have final exams just like they would have if they were in school.

I don't really deal with the public school system; my kids are in private schools. However, I was under the impression it takes nearly an act of Congress to fail a kid in a public school.
