Leave it to a troll to point people in the right direction. One needs a straw winner.

Not most. However, the judge will probably sanction you for the cost associated with finding and having a trial or hearing over the matter -- including all court cost and attorney's fees. The judge will also be extremely pissed at you, won’t believe a word you say, and will look to f*ck you in other ways - Lord help you if children are involved and custody and child support need to be determined.

you claim the winning ticket after the divorce is finalized to avoid having to lose half of it to your ex?

Not quite sure it works like that since if you were married when you bought the ticket she owns half the ticket.

Just hire a Clinton and let her commit suicide right before you claim the winning ticket

Nope. Unless you were divorced by the time you bought the ticket you're on the hook.

You might be able to get away with it if you keep your finances separate and have a somewhat amicable divorce.

Somehow, someway, the lawyers will end up with more than either of you.

better to give her half and go in peace than to have a fight on your hands for years.

It's not like there is a date of sale anywhere on the ticket...

There’s a date on the giant cardboard check.

Not to throw a monkey into this discussion.. But I wonder if the same rules would apply if someone gave you the ticket as a gift? You can back it up with multiple witnesses..

I hope you have the winning ticket, get hit by a bus and she ends up collecting %100

Give the ticket to your parents to claim. She gets nothing.

You could create a trust and have an attorney go collect the winnings as the representative of the trust. Get a p o box for the trust for any mail from the lottery. Set yourself up as the only beneficiary of the trust. This way your name isn’t tied to it. But if you want to live the lottery winner life, you’ll need to move far away from her.

Or you could be the better person and share it. Offer her a third.

Have your brother claim it.

Make a deal with one of your baws

He can have 10% of the money if he accepts the prize a couple months after divorce. Gives you 90% on the DL to a numbered account in the Caymans

Just cant get too flashy with the money

No. The right to the money accrued while you were still married. It does not matter when you cash it. It is community property.

I wonder how the discussion would go with your spouse when you tell her that we won the lottery and next thing you say is I want a divorce, lol.

I'm almost positive she says give me my half and kiss my arse on your way out the door..
