Offer the ex a reasonable amount of the lump sum. They accept your offer and if not then tell them you’re just gonna go with the annual payments from the lotto. They ain’t gonna let you hold them back from becoming an instant millionaire and moving on.

Nope. Community property, at least in Louisiana, if the ticket was purchased before the divorce was filed.
