Can anyone shed light on this? From my understanding multiple plants can’t start up because of this.

The plant that makes the nitrogen for the area is likely down, too.

Everything else in the world is in short supply. It wouldn't surprise me one bit that the most abundant element in our atmosphere is also in short supply.

Nitrogen is most important in vegetative stage. PK are utilized more during fruiting.

Oh different kind of plant.

My research shows nitrogen is byproduct in natural gas and makes it less efficient.

They use nitrogen to purge lines because it’s inert and won’t react to other chemicals. I’m sure they’ll get some soon, just takes time. No different than the gasoline issues you’re seeing. The limited distribution will slow it down but they’ll get it done soon.

Next you'll tell me the beaches are running out of sand. They really are putting the government in charge of EVERYTHING.

Air Liquide declared Force Majeur and stopped producing it. They will likely start again after renegotiating their contract.

Yes it’s a major issue right now. Air Liquide has a monopoly on pipeline nitrogen in Louisiana and all of their ASUs are down. They just returned power to their north region ASUs and should have limited N2 production by Friday. I have a number of customer plants who have power and want to start up but can’t bc of Air Liquide.

Cryogenics people.

Liquid Nitrogen is used in industry and food processing for being a safe, inert cooling medium.

Think flash freezing for meats, for example.

Not true. Air liquide has no power, they're waiting on it. Source : my brother who's been at the plant since the storm hit. Oh, and your Yucatán mountains didn't slow Ida down

Air Liquide has more than one plant supplying the pipeline.

Summarizing from their website:

quote:

Fourteen of the company’s air separation units are connected to Air Liquide’s extensive Mississippi River Pipeline system, supplying industrial gases to more than 30 customers along the Mississippi River.
