Always wondered why it wasnt more popular. Its grown quite a bit but seems like it should be a household name. Got a lot going for it.

I hate NYC and big cities, but Chicago might be my favorite city in the country for three months out of the year. Also Jacksonville had some hidden gems with the beach towns I had no idea about that I was able to check out before our game against FSU in Orlando this year.

I would say Pittsburgh definitely would've been my first answer 5 years ago. It's very, very slowly going to shite and it's bad enough now people are starting to notice. It's not so far gone that it can't quickly turn around, but the lockdowns did an absolute number on this city

Also, Denver was pretty nice when I went there for work, but that was back in 2010. Not sure how it is now.

I was in Denver in April for a concert at Red Rocks and was shocked at how deserted it was during the middle of the day during a work week and on the weekends. It has a cool downtown though and I’m sure when the Rockies are playing that whole area by the stadium is great, but for a city its size it was like a ghost town.

I moved from Nashville in 2018 and kids got into McFadden school of excellence and the discovery school.

Both top 3 elementary schools in the entire State. They both are feeder schools to Central Magnet.

I am impressed by Seattle. Nice buildings, clean, safe. The homeless situation didn't seem significant when I was there in August.

Says the guy who went in August when the sun is bright from 6:00 am until 10:00 pm.

Now…. Go from October through April when the sun rarely comes out and it’s drizzling nearly every day and daylight only lasts from 9:00 am till 4:00 pm.

I went mid-July and loved it. Sunny every day. But also figured that that was not what it's like for a large portion of the year.

That's a suburb. I can name hundreds of suburbs that are reasonably well run.

We have a big problem in this country. The exercise presented in the OP should be much easier, and should feature more names than smaller/mid sized towns in the mountain west, Texas/Florida, or New England.

It's got a population easily over 100,000. It's got its own government. So what if it's close to Houston.

Jacksonville - nicest big city I've been to
New Braunfels - close to San Antonio and Austin with plenty of cool, small towns around
Huntsville - I've only been once but I really enjoyed it here

I hate to say it, but College Station seems very nice. I'm there often, and if there is a true ghetto, I haven't found it. I even spent a night at the local motel 6, and it was surprisingly "okay". Their infrastructure is very nice. The city seems clean and it's growing. In the south, I don't know that I've seen a better run city. Screw A&M, but their city is nice.

SLC is bending over backwards building homeless shelters. ($$$$) Unfortunately, it does not solve the problem. Kinda like creating a vacuum, ….house some, and more appear out of nowhere to live on the streets that you just thought you cleared.
Even factoring in homeless, it feels pretty safe for a large city.

That's home.

And it is a great town w/great culture and great food. But there is a very bad heroin problem there(as in most of Appalachia) that has gotten worse over the last 15 years or so.

ETA: Don't go to East Pittsburgh. You'll come back in a body bag.

Yep. It's an old, old city, so there are some areas that aren't exactly shiny, but it is well run for a city of 1,000,000+.
