It’s actually targeted to help minorities more. The majority of student loan debt that minorities have is through Pell Grants, because those are designed to help low income families. They’re the ones that qualify for $20k in relief.

60% of black student debt holders recieved Pell Grants (more than any other race) which means most black debt holders will receive double what most white debt holders receive (30% of white debt holders received Pell grants.)
This part was literally put in because of the racial makeup of Pell grant recipients as a way to provide additional benefit to more minority debt holders.
And of course, it's racist against blacks.

You were stupid to pay these off when the government put a moratorium on payments and interest and campaigned on cancelling student loan debt. Set your loan payment money aside in an interest bearing account on the chance they don't succeed, but don't put yourself in a position to be a sucker when you have nothing to gain.

This reminds me of that heartbreaking story of the black female veteran who racked up $90k in debt (despite the GI Bill) over 7 years at University of Phoenix and was "working" as an HR consulting business owner specifically geared towards black professionals.
According to her, this racist tax break will allow her to "find herself" rather than have to make money to pay bills.

The stupider bit is if they got a Pell Grant, which they usually did if their income was low (which supposedly all poor poor black women's income is), it's 20 grand anyway, so she's just wrong

Are there any stipulations to getting this student loan debt removed? Do they have to graduate? At least make a C or better when they did attend? Perhaps the government screwed up by allowing certain students into expensive schools that really were not qualified in the first place.
