Bookmarked this to remember to read up on that ... sounds like an amazing survival. I pray that you are well and living and enjoying your best life.

As someone who has taken part in rescue operations at sea it is very difficult to spot a person in the water, IN DAYLIGHT. About 3 inches of the head remains above water. Not as easy as people imagine. Ordinary rules of seamanship are to conduct a search no matter whether you are US Navy (my case) or commercial vessel. I don't doubt the boat immediately started a search. Simply not as easy as one might think.

On the other hand it's easy to feel sorry for you if you are this much of a prick.

I have followed along ITT. Have read every page (have a few to catch up on from last night). I don't think I've even posted ITT. Today was the first mention I've heard of it on the national news and suddenly it's a hot topic. Out of nowhere and they are showing the videos, I hadn't watched them and I know they have been posted countless times ITT.

Just found that kind of weird. Big/fast topic on here for like a week and a half at least. Then suddenly it's a big/fast topic in the news. They must have been reading TD, because suddenly everyone in the news is also an expert on things that were mentioned ITT.

This is what journalism is today. Anytime they say “sources” and don’t name them it basically means they read it online

Does that by default make them experts on sharks?

In context, it probably means he liked to sing.

You thought they were saying that if Cameron Robbins were the judge and jury then he would have been a hung jury, if you can smell what the Rock is cooking there.

Would you feel the same if this kid drove drunk and perished?

He died by his own hand. It’s not like he was taken as were Allie Rice and Madison Brooks. I get why people don’t have the same level of compassion.

Didn’t one of those two put herself in the position that led to her death by going out and being drunk underage?

I’m thinking sharks. I can’t understand swimming like nothing wrong then suddenly gone. If that water is indeed shark infested then he was bait and got attacked and the video suggests such that going on.

Did he do something stupid? Yes. Especially in hindsight. But, he was in a harbor/bay with land within a mile and visible in 3 directions. Not the middle of the Atlantic. I guarantee he’s not the first person to jump in the water in a harbor at night.

I honestly rolled my eyes when people started talking about a shark on this forum. But, after watching the video, it’s hard to dispute it as a possible theory.

There appears to be some marine life by the buoy, which makes him start swimming in the opposite direction and he appears to get pulled under shortly after.

The Bahamas has the highest rate of shark attacks in the Caribbean and the Bahamian authorities have characterized the waters as shark infested. The authorities haven’t said there’s a strong current there. Seems like that would be the first thing they’d say if they thought he was pulled out to sea. Even their search area doesn’t seem to support that being an issue.

A women was attacked and killed by a shark in this area less than a year ago. A month before that a child was attacked by 3 sharks (but survived) in that area. Another woman was killed in 2019 by a shark attack in the area.

LINK

After watching the video, seeing that shark attacks are pretty prevalent in the area, and hearing what authorities have said and not said, I don’t think we can dismiss a shark attack as a theory.

It’s sad cause the kid lost his life over a lapse in judgment. But, this isn’t like he jumped off a moving cruise ship in the middle of the Atlantic. The boat was 140 ft. I spent a week on a 57 foot boat with 3 small bedrooms. That’s not big. It’s not hard to fathom someone thinking they can swim off a 140 ft boat and get back in pretty easily.

I think there’s this impression this guy jumped off a massive ship in the middle of the open sea. Which just isn’t what happened.
