Evidently a popular guy.

I know of a very popular high school kid who was suicidal and committed suicide. Popularity doesn’t mean you’re in good mental health and poor mental health can lead to suicide.

That being said, I have no idea if said rumor is true, just saying you can’t say a kid wouldn’t be suicidal because he’s popular. Personally, the suicidal idea doesn’t seem to fit with the story we have at this moment.

did too and genuinely surprised something like this hasnt already happened before. 500+ newly graduated 18 year olds from the same city going to an all inclusive resort in a foreign island country with the legal drinking age of 18 and hardly any adult supervision. This is obviously close to the worst that could happen.

My senior trip was 20 years ago to Cancun but it was exactly like this. Sunset booze cruise with a boat full of drunk teenagers, some blacked out, stumbling around a boat. Our chaperone was our baseball coach because none of the teachers would go with our crazy asses. I think we saw him one time the whole five days and that was random, he got the hell away as soon as he saw us. I'm not insinuating this about their captain, but I remember the crew on the boat we went on were all assholes that obviously hated having to deal with drunk teens all the time. I could have imagined the dude driving that boat ignoring people telling him somebody went overboard and telling everybody to piss off for 15 minutes. Thinking about being in the open water while your boat disappears into the distance at night is just nauseating

u high had just gotten there a few hours. before. the other BR school students had been there a day or two.

heard there was a delay getting the boat stopped .. how long .. who knows... 2 or 3 minutes could have felt like 15. rumor has it that a male chaperone had to stop the boat. who knows. all we do know is this is a very tragic incident and this kid's family and friends should be in our prayers.

Still, with alcohol and boating you would think the booze cruise people would make them wear them to avoid situations like this
Are y’all serious? Could you actually imagine how ridiculous it would be having people wear life vests on sunset cruises?

That is so sad. It is quite lucky they recovered his body, however. I know it means almost nothing but hopefully it gives the family some closure.

Wrong.
He jumped. His friends dared him.
This comes from someone who was on the boat.

News just said they are investigating if he was dared and if so, arrests could be coming. Is daring someone illegal?

If that’s the known outcome, I’m glad they found him for his family’s sake. Hoped for a miracle even though unlikely.

Over / under on Gordon “Getting it Done” for the UHigh family!?

Gordon: “Cruise company lacked proper / qualified EH&S crew member(s), and had no “tow behind” dingy for use in recovering a person falling off/ jumping”

Maybe 3 minutes felt like 10-15?

I now change my previous statement. Saw a video. The boat is a lot larger than I thought and everyone was having a good time on it. I originally imagined a smaller boat with maybe 20 people on it. I saw a quick scan of just a part of the boat and I can see 50 people. I’m sure there’s more on the boat that wasn’t shown.

The boat could have very well traveled for 10-15 minutes with the captain having no idea what happened or if the kids were telling the truth.
