This project has been planned since wayyyyy before the school board voted to reject Exxon's tax breaks, the news is just going public now.

If my math is correct, $1bn is better than $0. I know I'd leave my receipt in the ATM with that kind of cheddar

You're not going to see any affect immediately from ITEP/school board rejections but you damn sure will down the road. Years of planning go into these mega projects and they aren't just going to can something like this BRPO Expansion when they are months away from construction beginning.

Yep. It’s good to get this much at least. Lots of new projects along the River in the next few years. At least $10 billion worth

I'm not yet tired of all the winning.
This is what I've said all along. These ITEP deals are just gravy, they don't really make much of a difference.
Look, Texas is much bigger than LA, already has more XOM assets than LA, and has a larger employee base. Plus, you know, their HQ. Texas was getting the vast majority of XOM work before and they will keep getting it. Where it makes sense to locate in LA, so they can be close to the river and close to customers, they will continue to do so.
Now, the deck is clear. Any future XOM ITEP allocations will be for truly new projects and we can fairly assess their worth.

But Sentrius told me John Bel Edwards is running industry away?

Exxon got full ITEP on this project. It was a significant factor in the decision. That and Houston’s continuing air quality issues that we’ve fixed here that complicate permitting.
This in no way is indicative of future investment decisions. Texas continues to be the front runner, and the Fall elections, especially for Governor, will be telling.

He is. Trust me, he is. And it’s not just his royally screwing up ITEP.

If they really thought ITEP was a threat to profitability, they wouldn't move forward with the project just because they've been planning it for a while. That makes no sense. Face it, companies don't like taxes and they will bitch about them and threaten to leave to get the best deal. Doesn't always mean the project isn't viable without favorable tax treatment.
I never said it was a threat to profitability, that would be ignorance. The point is there was already millions sunk into this project and the recent tax break decision is not going to have any effect on the planned investment with this project.
