Following investigation, police discovered the gunshot victim was working as a DoorDash delivery driver and attempting to deliver food to a residence in Chester’s Valerie Drive neighborhood when he became lost and unable to navigate using the app. Police say the victim had approached several homes asking for directions before arriving at the residence of John Reilly III.

quote:

Reilly allegedly told the victim to get off his property, before firing multiple shots at the victim as he attempted to leave in his vehicle, striking the victim once in the back, causing serious physical injuries.

quote:

According to News12, the victim’s family says he came to New York six months ago from West Africa and worked for DoorDash for about a month. They say he speaks French and was studying English at SUNY Orange in Middletown.

Driver was lost and barely spoke any English, just came over from another country and probably did not realize he could call 911.

Not sure why how he ended up shooting him as he is leaving. Sounds like he was just going around asking for directions

That is what I was thinking. I hope he never has to deliver food again.

I can't imagine a scenario where he doesn't go to prison. Even if he'd just been robbed, shooting at a car at that distance when he wasn't in danger is flat out against the law.

People are fricking nuts.

A lot of cars don’t have USB-C which the new phones use. Who knows.

You can plug the usb end into the usb outlet or into the cigarette lighter if your vehicle doesn’t have a usb port.

I delivered Uber Eats for a bit. My phone was a few years old and even when I had it on a charger I had to call it quits early some nights because my battery was depleting faster than it was being charged. The app is running the whole time plus navigation and I also had a milage tracker for tax purposes. It's not the most battery -friendly operation.

Wonder if he had the GOA insurance for attorney representation. Most of those policies are $1M I believe.

Regardless, dude is cooked.

If the driver didn't confirm my Taco Bell fire sauce was in the bag, this an appropriate reaction.

Knowing the laws where he lives, the camera, the FFL and most likely a required firearms training and he does THIS.
He needs to be incarcerated away from us just for the stupidity. It’s not like he is ignorant of the laws. It’s hard to see how he made it this far in life being that stupid.

Kind of a double "Welcome to America. You may get shot doing your job, but if you survive, you can sue the shooter."

Based on the video, if I'm on either the criminal or civil jury, the shooter is guilty before lunch.
