I fricking love raw dogging it on a flight. Looking out the window and all the shite passing by seven miles below.
International flights get me bored, because they're usually overnight and over water.
Also, it's called "looking out the window", "raw dogging" is something different.

2nd thread this week on this general topic

My FIL, 91, can sit for hours and not read nor engage in conversation. He has always been a solitary, quiet man. Part of that is that he is hard of hearing and conversation frustrates him somewhat. Liking to be solo in the yard or in his basement tinkering is also something he likes to do.
Waiting at a doctor’s appt or in the hospital waiting room is no problem. He can sit and look at a wall for hours without grabbing a magazine to peruse.

An indictment of our own society that simply being in your own world, not needing to be entertained is considered odd and newsworthy as a trend.

Stupid terminology, the command center of a plane is not a deprivation chamber, it’s a fricking cockpit.

I mean, when I am "raw dogging" the wife , I typically am not online nor watching TV.
It's a completely understandable term, IMO.

This. I guess I “raw dog” my time on my front porch each evening. Just sitting, watching animals and listening to birds while rocking with a cup of coffee. Wife joins sometimes, but can never put down her phone for more than 10 minutes. Kinda sad.

New travel trend: in-flight raw dogging
That baw Lynn Stacy got caught raw dogging in the airplane bathroom. He's in a shite fest right now.

This is exactly me on flights. I love being in my own thoughts.

I do this. It’s really not that difficult.

My dad, almost 80 does the same while waiting, but it's kinda sad in a way. At that age their reflexes and agility is gone, hearing is hard, some have poor eyesight but you know their mind must be constantly racing thinking about past times - times when they were young and full of vigor, nostalgic thoughts, regrets in life, or about the future and death...

Ummm, I think they might want to reconsider the terminology they use here. The author of this article can’t be this naive can she?
Is this the first time you've heard this terminology in this context?
And yes, I know what the original meaning of the phrase is referring to

I've been doing this basically since I started flying. Love it. Flying from Denver back home to Pensacola a couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed seeing Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma, the mountains and hills of western Arkansas, the Mississippi River around Vicksburg, and the Tennsaw-Mobile Delta.

I already do this. I like just sitting and letting my mind wander

When they took the in flight magazine crossword puzzle away from me, I quit my job that required more frequent airtravel.
