New Orleans will pay 125 young people $350 a month for most of next year under a program that seeks to help youth build wealth and boost their financial literacy.

Ah very deserving youth, those who neither care about their future nor are making an effort to survive on their own

The horror that private citizens are donating money to inner city yutes

Even if it was from private citizens and not taxpayers (it’s not), I wouldn’t like this. This is as bad as the people that give money to beggars walking around in busy intersections. Stop enabling people to be useless. This program will only encourage drug use and poor financial choices and further degrade the city

The program is aimed at those who do not work or attend school. How can anyone think this is a good idea?

In typical fashion, this will be the first and last news story you read about this program. I doubt there is even anyone keeping tabs on them a year from now much less to complete an actual study of the results

I can’t think of anything more backwards than giving high school dropouts and the willingly unemployed free money to teach them financial maturity

It’s hard to believe that people can really be this stupid, but here we are in 2022.

Reminds me of a story in the Bible. Matthew 25:14-30

Most of these will actual just waste the money like most people are saying..

work is the only thing that gives money value. without it you are depriving these able-bodied entitled 16 to 24 year olds of their own self worth. when the well dries up, and it will they are as good as dead.
