I wish there was more info on the selection process. Aside from a few outliers, I feel safe assuming most of the people are already receiving some sort of government assistance considering it’s aimed at the unemployed

They probably don't even have that figured out.
They don't even know how they're going to fund this

If I wanted to invest in High Pernt, how would I go about doing that?

Give 100 people $100,000.
95 poors and 5 rich. Within 60 days the poor are poor again and the rich are richer.

New Orleans will pay 125 young people $350 a month for most of next year under a program that seeks to help youth build wealth and boost their financial literacy.
The program is aimed at residents aged 16 to 24 who are neither working nor in school, Mayor LaToya Cantrell and other officials said Thursday.
Brilliant.

Wonder how this will work IRL - probably a lottery. If you are not one of the lucky 125 winners, will you congraduate your friends who received this largesse, or might you take some other actions?

Jesus Christ this is one of the worst ideas ever. I’m sure all these little entrepreneurs will put these funds to good use.

Explain exactly how giving someone money they did not earn will do that? Whomever gets this money is going to take it and blow on shite they can't afford or don't need. For the most part with a few exceptions poor people are poor ,because they make terrible choices with money.

That will surely give them incentives

Shocking.
quote:
Those residents will receive the funds through a prepaid bank card provided by Mobility Capital Finance, also called MoCaFi.
Well this will not have any fraud nope not one bit at all.
quote:
Charter school networks and other partners will refer program participants to City Hall.
I thought the premise was to pay people who are not in school or working. Why is a charter school giving referrals?
Also where are the money coming from?
quote:
The program is being funded by Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, which advocates for direct cash payments to impoverished people.
That group was founded in June 2020 by Mayor Michael Tubbs of Stockton, California, and the nonprofit Economic Security Project, which supports guaranteed income payments for all Americans. The goal of such payments is to fight poverty and income inequality, advocates say.
Oh a tax exempt non profit organization offering this for 10 months. So this is basically a money laundering scheme.

wrong, but keep sky screaming
Even if all the money comes from charitable foundations, those individuals or entities who contribute will get tax breaks. Those tax breaks (for the wealthy) do amount to a raid on the treasury.
