here the thing. if you're that behind on taxes won't IRS contact you to make a payment plan or something before it gets this far?
so she repeatedly neglected that. gross incompetence. she needs removed immediately
Correct. They don't just file a lien the day after the deadline.

Her response to Lee's investigation was great though. She pissed off the wrong person obviously.
Keep in mind this is the same person that used a city credit card for personal expenses while she was a council member. "I been witch hunt since day 1" comes to mind.

Late Thursday evening, Mayor Cantrell issued a statement on the liens:
“Unfortunately, our family has been struggling with this debt for years. We are working with tax experts to resolve and pay this off as soon as possible. It’s very painful for this news to be made public, but I know many of our city’s residents face similar challenges, while they work hard every day, of keeping their homes. I still live on Louisiana Avenue Parkway like I always have, and will continue to work side by side, every day with our residents, for a better future for all New Orleanians. We are all in this together.”
The mayor and city council have already been at odds over the investigation of the Hard Rock Collapse which killed three people and injured many more. Collins said how Cantrell has handled her personal finances could concern councilmembers and prompt them to dig deeper into the city’s own finances.
“I do think this will force the city council to dig deeper into issues involving the executive branch especially issues in appropriating money and taxes,” he said.

Wrong. The assessor determines the market value of your property, and that is all he does. the New Orleans city council sets the tax millage rate and that determines how much you pay.
You are correct and I was wrong. The assessor just puts together a list of properties and their values. I definitely thought the assessor applied millages to the assessed values, but the collector does that.

Guaranteed that if I owed even $20k to the IRS, my checking and savings accounts and any other accounts the IRS could find would have been drained and my wages would have been garnished, all with a quickness.
Dis bish get's a lien placed on her house and no other effort like wage garnishment, confiscation of accounts that could lessen the amount due. fricking IRS scam.

I stand corrected. Initial point still stands that in 2017 she was flush with campaign contributions. And likely used them to pay off that year’s bill.

Not really. It takes a long time for the IRS to take things that far. That's why it's so hilarious that it got to the point that she actually has a lien on her house.

She thinks she is a master at white collar theft...(period)(but too stupid to cover her tracks)
When the hard rock fell....I said it would end up being a scam from city officials and kick backs..
Oh a not to outdo Latoya, John Bel took over the 1 million dollar Hard Rock crane implosion.....and made it a $5 million dollar crane implosion...that's how Democrats work...

If you do due diligence and find out her address, then go to google maps, she has a Lexus in her driveway.
I wonder if her water bill is EFFED up like half of the citizens of NOLA?
She's living way beyond her means.
I'd love to be able to buy up the lien on her house, kick her out and send her butt back to Los Angeles.

New Orleans is making progress. It is nice to have a mayor who can't steal enough to pay her taxes.

Agree. Same with Baton Rouge and Shreveport voters. Same with the whole shitty state. Our governors in recent memory have all sucked, except for maybe Bobby in his first term. Hell, our fine citizens even elected slick Eddie again after everyone knew he was a damn thief.
The great white hope parishes of St. Tammany and Ascension even can't help themselves from having corrupt politicians. And the small poor arse places are worse than them all in our state.

She is a DEM politician and will have little, if any, IRS accountability. Lien will sit for 10 years and expire with no payment. In the meantime, she aspires to run as VP with Stacey Abrams as President in 2032.
